Controller doesn't turn on Xbox

I am having intermittent issues with my Xbox controller(s) not being able to turn on the Xbox. When this happens, the controller light blinks for a minute or so and then turns back off. I then have to manually turn on the xbox by pressing the button on
the Xbox. I have yet to determine what gets the Xbox in this state. Has anyone else seen this issue?

1. I'm not in the insider program. I had issues in the past on the 360 version and have never signed up again.

2. I am not aware of any loss of power at home during the day.

3. My surge protector is functioning fine as far as I can tell. No fault lights of any kind.

I don't have spare sockets in my room to plug the Xbox in separately from everything else.

So far I've had this issue every day this week since tuesday.

The only thing I've done differently is buy a game and claim the free GwG games via either the Xbox app or a web browser.

After performing the above suggested reset, the console didn't sign me in automatically now seems to have forgotten my password as I'm being asked to enter it.

As I'm the only one to use my Xbox, I have my password saved for auto log in.

I've been having the power on issue for about 2-3 months now.

Also, I should add that this issue I'm having happens exactly like this.

I turn the console off at night using the controller, and the console is off for about 18-19 hours(the time I'm asleep and then a full day at work).

It's when I try and turn the console on, using the controller, when I get home after work the I encounter the issue I've posted about.

I was in the beta insider. But I left a week ago because of this issue to see if that was the problem. When I did it reset to the proper months update. It was perfect for a week then i had an update on Monday and the issue has started again. This leads me
to believe that it is this latest update causing this to happen.

 

Hi, looks like maybe your console needs a hard reset. Press and hold the xbox button on the console for 10 seconds, when the xbox powers off remive the power cable from the console. Wait 30 seconds and reconnect the power cable, power on using the xbox button
on the console.

Then try powering off again and test to see if the xbox then powers on using the controller.

 

This problem is repeatedly occurring. When it does, I have to power off the xbox and power it back on to get the controller to power it on again. This, however, isn't the solution. I was hoping the update the other day would fix this--but it hasn't.

I had a similar issue, turns out it was my batteries in my controller. They don't seem to last as long as they did in the 360.

Switch them out and see if that makes a difference. If you have another controller available try using it if it works then it's unlikely to be your console. If it fails, then it may be your Xbox Unit.

Do your Voice commands work "Xbox, On"?
