Controller doesn't always turn console on

I posted this question a while ago and didn't get any help.

I've also tried contacting Xbox Support via Twitter and they never replied.

I have an Xbox One X and a Design Labs controller.

Every so often the controller will not turn the console on and I have to use the power button on the console.

However, even though I keep my console set to instant-on, when I'm having this issue and have to use the power button to turn on, the console boots from energy saving mode/cold boot.

I've tried using the controller that came with the X, but I still have the same issue.

This isn't a common occurrence, it only happens now and then, but it's extremely frustrating, especially with a piece of equipment which cost over £400.

Disable Console Power up when turning on controller

I've found, on my PC at least, that if I plug in the controller directly into the PC while off, , the console doesn't turn on first. Doesn't always work though which is a pain.

I always turn on and turn off my Xbox 360 Elite console with the wireless controller!

 

Try performing a hard reset EXACTLY like this.

Hold the power button on the console for 8 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord back in and restart the console.

Are you in the xbox insiders program by chance? Sometimes some updates have your console completely turn off (go into power savings mode).

Other causes could be a power loss of the power supply, which could include malfunctioning surge protectors or simply a loss of power at your house.

 

I was in the beta insider. But I left a week ago because of this issue to see if that was the problem. When I did it reset to the proper months update. It was perfect for a week then i had an update on Monday and the issue has started again. This leads me
to believe that it is this latest update causing this to happen.

 

1. I'm not in the insider program. I had issues in the past on the 360 version and have never signed up again.

2. I am not aware of any loss of power at home during the day.

3. My surge protector is functioning fine as far as I can tell. No fault lights of any kind.

I don't have spare sockets in my room to plug the Xbox in separately from everything else.

So far I've had this issue every day this week since tuesday.

The only thing I've done differently is buy a game and claim the free GwG games via either the Xbox app or a web browser.

After performing the above suggested reset, the console didn't sign me in automatically now seems to have forgotten my password as I'm being asked to enter it.

As I'm the only one to use my Xbox, I have my password saved for auto log in.

I've been having the power on issue for about 2-3 months now.

Also, I should add that this issue I'm having happens exactly like this.

I turn the console off at night using the controller, and the console is off for about 18-19 hours(the time I'm asleep and then a full day at work).

It's when I try and turn the console on, using the controller, when I get home after work the I encounter the issue I've posted about.

 

Even after performing the suggested steps, coming home from work this evening and attempting to power on the console with the controller and nothing happens.

Powered on with the power button and it again boots from cold/energy saving mode.

 

Good to see support is helping

It was fine over the weekend, but getting back from work this evening and it's reverted back to not turning on with the controller and booting from energy saving when turning on with the power button.

The console was turned off last night around 7pm and turned back on this evening around 5:15pm.

Over the weekend I was playing most of the day, turning off around 10pm and turning back on around 8am.
