Controller does not work in specifically Sea of Thieves on Xbox Game Pass

All other games work, even other game pass games. Sea of Thieves recognizes the controller and will let me through the "press start to continue" page using the controller input. It switches the icons in game to show that a controller is being used but there is zero input from any buttons or joysticks. Keyboard and mouse work perfectly fine. This stopped working for me about 2 weeks ago.

Troubleshooting steps tried -

reset the app via windows apps

uninstall and reinstall the game

use a different xbox official controller (exact same result)

update firmware on the controller

use a different usb port for my official xbox wireless adapter

update windows

restart the computer

use a different resolution/display mode in game

unplug other peripherals

remove the controller from my windows devices and re-add

disable controller input in game and reenable controller input in game

reset the keybinds to default in game

I'm thinking the problem is with Sea of Thieves itself but I see no other cases of this on Google. Any help would be appreciated.

I'm having the exact same issue. Seems there s a possible fix when the game is running through Steam, but I have had no luck with the game pass PC app. Please help if anyone knows anything.

I solved the problem by changing the usb cable connecting my controller, hope that helps

I found the solution. For some reason there is a setting under associability which disables controller input on PC. It was switched to on for me so had to switch it off.

Sea of thieves requires gold and game pass, unless you purchase sea of thieves, then you only need gold.

Yeah my Sea of Thieves and Descenders Game Pass quests aren't working for me still.
