Controller disconnects when used to power on xbox console

Hey guys, so I’ve been facing this issue ever since I bought the Xbox One X.

When I hit the home button on my controller the Xbox will power on just fine, however, the controller will lose sync shortly after. I am unable to re-sync the controller with the system using the sync buttons when this happens but it does sync back up if
I just turn the controller off and then turn it back on. If I turn the Xbox on using the button on the front of the console and then turn on the controller afterwards everything works just fine.

The problem only seems to occur when using the controller to power on the console. I've also noticed that this only seems to occur if the console is fully shut down.

    Any ideas or suggestions?

    :)

  3. Xbox one controller disconnected during update now wont turn on

    Try these two things.

    1. Remove batteries and disconnect headset

    2. Insert batteries

    3. Press Xbox button

    4. Hold View and Menu buttons together for 10 seconds

    5. Controller should power back on

    If that does not work...

    1. Remove batteries and disconnect headset

    2. Connect controller to console with USB cable with no batteries inserted

    3. Leave console at home screen and controller plugged into console, let sit for 5 minutes

    4. Controller should power back on

Are you using the "play and charge" rechargeable batteries for the controller, or standard AA's? If you are using the rechargeable pack, try using standard AA batteries. There have been reports of controller resets with some rechargeable battery packs.

  7. I had a similar issue when I first started using my controller with my Xbox One X. The issue ultimately ended up being other electronics near the console causing interference.

I had another issue with the controller randomly turning off which was the result of generic rechargeable batteries the controller just didn't like. I now use Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries and I've not had an issue there either.

I usually got good results with the following troubleshooting steps.

Remove the batteries from the controller and find a Micro USB data cable (make sure it's a data cable, and not just a Smartphone charging cable, as these are often missing the data leads).

Connect the controller with the Micro USB cable to the console directly and check that the controller works, and also use the Xbox Accessories app to check if there is a firmware update available for the controller.

If the controller is working fine and is up to date, remove the controller from the console, and plug the USB cord into an USB charger. That will provide a stable power source to the controller. Test the controller again.

Should the controller disconnect again, check your surroundings for possible wireless interference, or for things blocking the controller from communicating wirelessly (as in the troubleshooting page linked by M3tal Daz3, check for metal objects between
your console and controller, or other wireless devices that could interfere with the wireless controller signal).

If the controller is working fine with the USB cable attached to an USB charger, then your batteries are probably faulty.

Okay you are the only person who seems to have been able to help me for the past couple of months and I'm really grateful!

So I removed the batteries and connected my controller to the console using a USB cable and this problem completely disappeared. I am now able to boot the system using the controller while it's connected to the USB cable without losing connection ( Please
Note: If the batteries are inside the controller while it's connected with a USb cable , the problem still persists! ) It's only when I removed the batteries, it seemed to have worked. Now having said that, I'm still unable to maintain a connection wirelessly
when I boot the system using the controller. I have already tried 2 different set of Duracell batteries both chargable and non-chargable.

What could be the real issue here?

I also noticed that the controller loses connection when it is connected via USB cable attached to a USB charger. It is only working fine when it is connected to the Xbox via USB cable and has no batteries inside of it. This happens with all three controllers
I own. I'm still unable to resolve this Controller disconnects when used to power on xbox console :(

That's weird, that the controller loses contact when you have the batteries inside, while the console is connected to the controller via USB.

Have you checked if there is a Firmware update available for the controller?

Actually the problem is not there when controller is connected via USB cable with or without batteries in the controller. Wireless seems to be the issue.
