Controller disconnects, only reconnects by removing battery

Day One controller with Xbox One Stereo Headset plugged in.

Every once in a while during a game, the music will get stuck in an audio loop, the character's movement will be stuck in whatever direction I was pressing when the lockup occurred, and the system no longer responds to any input. The only fix is to yank
out the battery and plug it back in.

Anyone else encounter this problem?

XB1 controller disconnecting after adapter update.

I have a "Day One" controller that has given me no problems until I purchased and installed headset adapter.

I followed the directions to the letter.

I removed battery, plugged in adapter and my Turtlebeach X41 to the adapter and updated the controller.

Re-installed battery and began playing as I normally do happy that I can now chat using my TB X41s.

For no reason my controller disconnects and I get a message on screen to reconnect controller.

Problem is that its not that simple. You just cant press the Xbox button because its locked up and does no good. Pressing the small black reconnect button on the front of the controller with button on the side of the console does no good either. Removing
adapter does nothing. The controller freezes during game play for no reason.

I have the Xbox battery rechargeable battery pack that I must remove then plug in the cord to get the controller to reconnect, then after a few min, I can re install the battery pack and unplug the cord.

The battery pack is fully charged so that's not the problem, the controller has been malfunctioning since the update.

 

Can anyone help?

Weirdest problem I have had with an Xbox thus far - I bought a pre owned Xbox 360 elite 2 weeks ago, and the console is perfect fine. However The controller I got with it seems to be disconnecting regularly despite full battery life.

The weird part is, that it only disconnects when I play Gears of war 3, it will ask me to "reconnect a controller", so I once again turn it on, check battery which is 3 bars, I leave Gear, play a new game, and by joe, it doesn't disconnect once.

Any ideas why?

 

Are the batteries near depleted? If so, replace or recharge and see if that helps.

Otherwise, check to see that no dust or any dirt are clogging up the connectors in the battery area.

Otherwise, try and power cycle the Xbox and resynch the controller by using the little button in front of of the controller, between LB and RB.

To power cycle the Xbox you hold the xbox button on the console pressed for 8 secs. The power adapters light should glow amber.

 

Thanks Angryvato, I'll give this a shot. It'll be a bit before I can tell if your suggestions helped, since the disconnects happen randomly. I'll report back.

Having the same problem. The controller locked up three times yesterday. Problems started shortly after the controller firmware update for the stereo audio adapter. Very aggravating when in the middle of a battle you're standing there as a target. It
has manifested itself as a "Controller Disconnected" as well as one time as a continuous turn to the left with no buttons responding.

 

Having the same problem, done it to me at least 10 times, starting to happen twice a night now....

 

I'm having the same problem. I've come to the conclusion that it's the controller's firmware update. It only started happening to me once I updated the controller and it only happens when I have the Xbox One Chat Adapter plugged into it. Microsoft needs
to send out a patch for the firmware asap as I know for a fact that that's what it is. I doubt they are aware of this however because this problem has been affecting my controller for a couple of weeks now.

 

Welcome to the club. Most people think it's a firmware problem when you update your controller. It could also be an issue with the headset adapter.

No official word from Microsoft yet.

 

I have the same problem. I bought the Xbox One Stereo Headset today and was prompted to update the firmware. After the update, the controller disconnected about 10 times in roughly an hour. Prior to the firmware update, the controller never had any uncommanded
disconnects.

 

it's happened to me with the stereo headset 3 times now -- while playing Titanfall if that means anything

 

Add me to the list as well.

 

Mine has been doing this since day one release. I even had my console replaced under warranty and still had the issue. I then sold it and bought the Titanfall Ed. and it does the same thing. I did the power cycle, paired etc. and the problem still existed.
Keep in mind, I didn't use a headset until a few weeks ago when mine became compatible.

 

This is a widespread issue I have left a post in the update forum. Hopefully this problem gets fixed, very aggravating to be in a match and my controller locks up/disconnects the only fix is to remove and replace a battery. This is happening with brand new
batteries,hopefully with all the threads on the issue the problem gets taken care of.
