Controller disconnects, and yes I have read all the other posts, new issue.

When my controller disconnects, (I am hardwired, not wireless) I reconnect and it will not recognize my headset. The light is on, so it has power, but it is still using the connect for chat. The only solution (yes I have read this in other posts) is to cold
restart. But every time this happens I am supposed to cold restart. If it is reading the headset enough to get power, it should recognize it and add useful function without having to reboot every time I pull the plug.

Thanks Linden for the reply? However Did you read my post? My post relates to the Xbox One Media Remote, not a controller. Although I do also suffer from controller disconnects of which I have detailed here.

Why does everyone just keep referring us to the controller troubleshooting page. Everyone has tried all those steps!!!! Anyway back to the problem. The remote is not accurate enough or act the same way as any other remote.

 

Xbox One Elite Controller Disconnects Constantly

I have an elite controller that constantly disconnects. I thought the controller was going bad (had it for a couple years) so I bought a new one. Still having the same issue. I have read this may be a WiFi interference issue but can get any details. So now
I have $300 in controllers that don't work.

 

Have you gone into settings accesories and tryed a manual update for your controller . Had a similar issue once

My mate has this problem. Is important that this is seen as a separate issue to the random disconnect reconnect issue. Microsoft support has an extremely hard time working this out!

 

Thanks for the resposes, I tried to update the controller. Says it is updated.

 

If under 12 months old take it back to the shop were you got from, as to me it sounds like it's faulty, you could try a mates controller to see if the fault lies with the xb1 or the controller. I also read on other forums with this people saying some xb1
have bad wifi board on a batch of consoles, so if that's the case it's either the shop or send the xb1 to Microsoft to be fixed.

 

this issue happened to me as well, solution i found is that after the disconnection happened sometimes your gamertag isnt assigned to the controller anymore, if this happens you wont be able to chat, so what you need to do is assign it back to the controller
and the chat will work again.

to check this you have to go to settings then devices&accessories then check the wireless xbox one controller symbol it should have your gamertag avatar in it and telling you that its assigned if its not you get into the settings for that and click on 'assign
controller'.

 

Thanks to all for help. The controller was assigned to my profile, so tried that. I gave up an bought rechargeable batteries. Now it works.
