  1. Controller Device Options are greying out Volume - my headset isn't working

Hey there. So I purchased an Afterglow LVL 5+ wired headset and it worked awesomely for a few months. However, just recently, I can't hear anything through them - no game sound (online or offline), no party chat, no friends, nothing. I thought it was the
headset and I tried every troubleshooting method I could, to no avail. I even went out and purchased another one, thinking they somehow broke, but nope - it still doesn't work. So now I have two perfectly fine headsets and I can't hear a thing.

But I realised, while setting up the second headset and following the instructions, that I need to go to Settings > Kinect & Devices > Devices & Accessories > select the controller > Volume> and then adjust everything from there. But Volume is greyed out
here and I can't adjust my audio options.

My controller is updated and working fine - it turns on and off, moves well, doesn't stick or anything. I have cleared my cache and hard reset the console - nothing. So why all of a sudden are there no Volume options?

This is really frustrating and now I feel like an idiot for having two headsets instead of looking at the controller first. So any and all help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    :)

  2. xbox one controller

My xbox one controllers aren't working with either of my headsets. The headsets work on other devices and the controller works on other games. Just not working together. I've tried shutting down the console, making sure the volume is correct , checked
the audio on the xbox. Nothing is working.

    Controller volume unable to select

My sons controller headset has gone silent both mic and earphones. I have checked the headset on another device and it works fine. I have tried to check the volume control for the controller but the system will not let me select it. I have attached a pic
of the screen showing the volume option blacked out. Any help would be appreciated.

Microphone with a line through it icon

    Hi MKT,

Thanks for reaching out to us here on the Forums!

I have also had this issue before as well. It means the controller is not recognizing the headset plugged in. I have had to disconnect and reconnect the headset to the controller.

Now, it is best to test other headsets and controllers to see what the main issue would be.
    In System -> Settings -> Kinect & Devices -> Devices & Accessories -> …, there
    is Connected Headset
    and
    Volume.
Is the option for Volume greyed out or available to click on?

What type of headset are you using as well? Is the audio is properly configured on the console? (Mainly chat mixer, volume, toggle mic on/off, audio format…..)

We hope to hear back soon :)

    Stopped Auto assigning

Sorry but my headset is not the official Xbox one and I have tried these options but none have worked, another thing is the headset has a game chat/party chat slider that controls the volume between them, and usually if I try to adjust this setting manually on my xbox it is greyed out (which is normal and I can just use the headset) but it's not greyed out anymore and I can move the sliders though it doesn't change anything.

Xbox One-s Controller Volume Greyed Out

Hi, Did you find a solution? I am having the same issue, since around early January 2019. The headset works perfectly fine on all other devices, and the volume option is greyed out in settings. I've tried several times to fix it with no success.
