Controller Dead since update

    Controller Dead since update


    Both my controllers have been turning off/ disconnecting during gameplay which is irritating, so i looked for ways to fix them. Many people suggested updating them.

    Dug the usb cable out the box and wrapper and plug it into the controller, updated the first one no issues, clicked the button to update the second one and it failed instantly. Controller is now a brick and has been for 2 - 3 hours. Followed loads of steps
    that i found buried on here and nothing has worked.

    Steps i have carried out to save some time.

    Changed batteries, Unplugged console, plugged back in and held button down on controller whilst rebooting, tried a different usb cable, tried a different Xbox, tried connecting to a pc.

    Spoke to Microsoft support who said they can't help as its out of warranty, which is baffling as its their update that killed the controller. I'm surprised they aren't offering more help on this subject. From the looks of things this is a common issue. They
    should have at least has a big flashing warning telling me there is a good chance i could transform my controller into a decoration.

    so next gen controllers cant work like last gen?

    i'm with Eggnogga, when i get the notification that the battery is low, i wait for a break in the game and plug in the USB cable, i haven't had to deal with a dead controller since that update.

    controller issues since latest update

    Yes I have been having this problem.I posted in another thread about it as well.The problem never happened prior to this update,it's very frustrating to play.I can play wired but that's no solution for the real problem.

    Hi

    If you have not done so already please try the steps below and hopefully you should be able to get the controller updated and running again.

    1. Remove any batteries from the controller

    2. Power down the console by holding the power button for 5-10 seconds

    3. Unplug the power supply from the console and wall outlet and leave everything unplugged for 1 minute

    4. Plug the power supply back in (leave controller unplugged for now) and wait for console to boot

    5. Once on the Home screen, plug controller in via USB and leave it alone for 2 minutes

    6. Run controller update again (even if option is greyed out, attempt to select it and update again)

    Actually....if the player controlling the ssr dies....the ssr should go away.....that would make more sense since the driver is dead and cant control it anymore

    The only thing i can think of is plugging the controller into the console with the adapter plugged in and see if the controller can take an update. Past that it sounds like the adapter may be dead
