    Controller DC when changing batteries on Xbox Series X


    I and a few other friends have experienced this issue which appears to be slightly different than the known issue of random disconnects.

    Occasionally (not 100% of the time but a significant percent of the time - probably between 33% and 50%) there is a controller desync after changing batteries in the controller (either before or after the controller dies). The Xbox Series X then fails to resync to the controller (and cannot resync to any controller), requiring a hard reset of the console before it can sync to a controller again. Upon hard reset, the console will frequently resync to the controller without even needing to hold the connection buttons on the console/controller.

    This is a CONSOLE issue - not a controller issue. I experience it equally frequently with an old Xbox One X controller as I do with the new controller that came with the Series X (I don't use the new controller much because of the combination of this issue and the new controller's insane battery usage).

    Venom Battery Pack

    When you say you've tried New battery packs, was it a new battery pack designed for the Series S/X controllers? The Xbox One Venom battery packs won't fit the new controllers (Venom sell newer versions of these). The controller's much smaller size may have necessitated some minor changes?

    The Series X controllers available now uses the same official battery packs as the Xbox One and Series S controllers.

    But then if it;s the wrong battery pack, it shoudn't work with either controller ...the fact it works in one but not the other points to an issue with the second controller

    The Xbox One Venom battery pack won't even fit in the Series X controller (or at least not without trimming bits off it)..as the OP can fit the pack with no issue, it suggests it's the right battery pack. Unless Venom have released more than one battery pack for the Series X?
