    Controller D-Pad Issues

So I have been having a problem with my controller d-pad for quite a while now and quite frankly, it's driving me mad. First off, let me say that I really dislike the X1 d-pad (I also have a ps4 and feel that one blows the X1 away) but I really like the
rest of the X1 controller. However, for as far back as I can remember now, when I am using the d-pad to arrow through menus or X1 Home or wherever, whenever I hit the down direction - it skips like 2-5 items in a menu. It's really weird and crazy annoying.
So for example, my cursor will have like the top entry on the activity feed highlighted then I hit down once and it skips to like 5th entry in the activity feed. It does it with everything - in the dashboard, in netflix, etc. It does it in games too but it
doesn't seem as bad in games - not sure why.

So is it the controller that's just busted? I take excellent and meticulous care of my equipment so it probably wouldn't be something I did. It is a "day one" controller that came with my X1. I just can't tell if it's the d-pad that's broken or a firmware
thing - wondering if this is happening to anyone else...

Also, my controller is randomly disconnecting from the X1 for no good reason at all. It does 1-2 times in every game session I have. It's been doing it since day one. I know a lot of other people have reported this as well but figured I would mention it
here since it's also happening to me and this post is about my controller.

thanks for any info or advice anyone can supply.

    :)

    Controller Rumble Makes Humming Noise

Yes, they did update the 360 controller with a different D-pad that I loved that also was not incorporated in to the Xbox One controller. However, I haven't had any issues with the D-pad yet I just liked the feature(s) and fit-and-finish of the improved
    360 controller better.

  7. In side the controller they used like thin aluminum as the the triggers rather than the traditional rubber pad, in the d-pad. I found that after constant use they fatigue, and become over sensitive, and do not function properly. I have gone through 3 controllers
myself. I am currently researching replacement parts for the d-pad. If I can not find a repacement part, I plan to bend the tabs back up, and heat treat the metal, so to undo the effects of the fatigue.

Eww That will be my project for the day.

  10. Fixed it, So those were the 2 issues. I had to bend and anneal the aluminum d-pad under the button, solder on some new feet. I will figure out something for the metal connectors under the thin layer of mylar next, I refuse to spend another 60 dollars for
a controller that fails. After looking at it this was just an over all poor design, in the d-pad.
