Controller corrupted after updating stopped

I was updating my controller after downloading the xbox accesories app. The update was going fine until i accidently knocked the controller. As a result the controller disconnected from my PC. When I plugged it back in, the xbox light would not turn bvack
on. The device is however registered to the PC as it is in the devixces and printers. The device however has a corrupted driver in it. If i try to update the drver manually or automatically it will say that there is already the up to date driver on the PC.
Because the xbox light does not turn on it results in the xbox accesories app not registering the controller. As a result i cant update the controller to fix it as it is not registered. Does anybody have any advice at all that could save my corrpted controller
as otherwise i will npt have a pleasent experience.

Please comment suggestions ASAP as that would help save my controller. Many thank in advance of doing so.

Controller update problems

I got a new wireless controller after my last one broke. While the controller was updating, it stopped and said I needed a USB cable to update it. The controller didn't come with a cable and my xbox didn't come with a cable for this so I don't know how to
update it. What do I do to fix this?

Hey FastVessel! If the controller is not registering there isn't a manual way to update the drivers at this time. I would suggest, if you live in the US or Canada, to take the controller in to a Microsoft Store for replacement. If you do not live in the
US or Canada, I would suggest you take the controller to the original retailer to see if the can replace it. At this time, to use the
Online Service Center to get a replacement, you will have to have an Xbox console registered first. Thanks for understanding!

There are a lot of people with exactly the same problem 4K Capture stops
automatically after 23-24sec and that file is corrupted,
this problem started after the last update (15.5).

If an update is stopped mid point, it will remove the game/app. This is by design to stop corrupted files.

Thanks for reaching out to us in the forums for this issue. I'm sorry to hear that your controllers are not working as intended since the last update. It is unusual that both controllers are not responding via a wired or wireless connection but are still
lighting up.

Do you happen to have your profile or console enrolled in our Insider's program to your knowledge? If so, you may wish to

report this via the Insider's Hub or on the
Insider's subreddit page to see if they are aware or have similar issues or fixes available.

If you are not, then I would recommend trying to
connect both or either of the controllers to a Windows 10 PC to see if they are recognized and capable of use with that device. If they are, then you can check to see if they need a firmware update via the Xbox Accessories app. Following that, you can then
attempt to see if the console recognizes them. How to update your Xbox One Controller on Windows 10

Alternatively, I would also recommend a
soft factory reset of the console (keeping games & apps installed) as well to see if that update can be reapplied as something may have gone funny with it. Since the controllers aren't currently being recognized, this would definitely be something to try
after the whole PC recognition attempt.

Please bear in mind that if you're part of the Insider's program that any of the standard troubleshooting may not work as intended and, as such, reporting this to the Insider's Hub (which you can do even if not an Insider and can do also via your PC) would
be the best route to take.
