    Controller / Console issues

So, I am not on my 2nd attempt at the Xbox One X system as I have already sent it back for repairs. I am not wondering if I have to do the same thing all over again for another issue. I just want to see if anyone else was having this issue.

Backstory, my controller has been having major issues syncing with my X1X. I THOUGHT it was the controller, so I went out and bought another controller and it did the same thing with the new one. I know the controllers have weak internals as I am on #5 thanks
to constant drift issues with the others. I'm not happy about that, but I can deal with that. It used to just be an issue once in a while, where my controller wouldn't start up my X1X or connect. I got in the habit of pressing the power button, waiting for
the console to load to home screen, and then turning on the controller. Worked MOST of the time. Then I started having an issue where it would just drop connection out of nowhere. Or, it would connect for 5-10 seconds and go back to blinking on the controller.
Very frustrating, but I had a long USB cord and I just made it work by connecting it. The USB cord is in need of replacement and doesn't fit in securely, so I am trying to go back to wireless as that's the way I would prefer to play... and rightfully should
    for a $500 console.

So, lets cut to today. I turn on my console, wait for the home screen to load, and try to turn on my controller. Not working. So, I press the reconnect on controller (starts blinking fast) and do the same on the console. Wait, nothing happens. No search
mode, just solid power light and click of the button. I click it a few more times. Nothing. I hold it down, nothing. I reset the console, wait for it to load, and the button still isn't working. So, this is where I am. I have a console, no controller will
connect, no console button to try to reconnect, and a usb cable that is too loose to stay in. Do I really need to send this lemon back to MS again and wait while my $500 console gets repaired for a 2nd time and not have anything to play until I pay them more
money to send me a different unit?

Seriously though, frustration aside, does anyone have any helpful hints or ideas here? Is it just me with a bum X1X?

    :)

    CONSOLE / CONTROLLER SYNC ISSUES

Purchased Halo 5 bundle, 1 week old. Having problems with the following:

-Powering on/off console via controller is inconsistent, works 1 out of 5 attempts.

-Cant select dash icons like games, settings, apps, messaging, etc... also console/controller shutdown doesn't activate. Makes the sound but no action happens.

-While playing a game or typing, the controller will go nuts and randomly try to select everything.

Can try any hard reset combinations, sometimes seem to work, but at best these 'fixes' will only be temporary.

I'm trying to work out if my console is packing it in or if it's a controller flaw.

Thanks in advance for any help.

  3. Controller and Console Issues

I have recently converted from playstation to Xbox. Everything was running fine and then about a week ago I started having issues.

    1. My controller will just flash when I use it to turn on my Xbox and the only thing that seems to fix it is replacing the batteries in it even though I know they aren't even close to being dead.

    2. For whatever reason my Xbox will just glitch and freeze. Again the only cure for this seems to be a hard reset. It is getting annoying coming home and sitting down only to have to hard reset and change my batteries.

Should I be resetting my xbox to factory settings and starting over or is it a software issue? Hardware issue? Any help on this subject would be fantastic.

    Thanks All

  6. ReToM7,

Have your tried to update your controller. I am not sure if this will help with what you are describing. But I thought it might be worth looking at.

Double-tap the Xbox button to open the guide, then select System > Settings > Kinect & devices >Devices & accessories. Choose
the “…” and check the Firmware version. If it says there’s no update available, your controller is current. If it says “Update,” follow the steps.

If you can’t complete a needed update, see Troubleshoot update issues
    with your Xbox One Controller
    .

Another option is to go to Contact Us | Xbox Support. Choose Xbox One, click No Thanks to chat with an online rep, choose controller and then request a call. You will receive a call to discuss
your situation. Hopefully they will be able to help find a reasonable solution.

Then there is the unpopular route just got to https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/devices and request service for the device.

Please keep us updated on the resolution.

    Thank you,

    Controller / Console issues

I'll be looking at this tonight hopefully. I finally had time to pick up a usb cable. I wish I could play with it, but the cables don't seem to stay in Xbox controllers very well, so it's not really a viable play option. I will keep you posted if that works.

Thanks Lance, I will be trying out the suggested items in this post tonight.

Follow-up questions; does anyone know if your xbox is under warranty if you can just bring it to a Microsoft store to service/exchange vs shipping back to MS and waiting?

    Retom7,

Yes sir! You should be able to make an appointment at your closest Microsoft store if you are under warranty.

Make sure that your console is NOT plugged into anything else besides a wall outlet. No surge protectors no extension cords. Simply right into the wall. If you don't have it set up this way make sure you disconnect your xbox power cord completely
from both ends and let the console sit for 2 min before plugging into a wall outlet. Once you have done this try and connect your controllers.

    Console issue or controller issue!

I must say, really, really weird. Try
    power cycle your console.

Try remove and then add her account again after that. Are you sure that you didn't changed something with controller on her account?

    Console issue or controller issue!

After having controller issues myself over the years, I wouldn't think that it was the console. If after going through the link that I originally included you don't notice a difference, you could try another controller if you have one. If the same issue
happens with that controller you could see about getting your console serviced.

I would remove her account and add it again just to see if that changes anything? Are you sure she didn't change any of the settings in the game that she is playing? Sometimes if you increase the sensitivity of the camera in a game, it might seem that
    there is controller drifting.

    Console issue or controller issue!

This is not a console problem. It is the controller drifting. There could but something broken inside the controller or dust. If you still have warranty then I would recommend getting a replacement. You can do that here.
