Controller connection issues

I have a strange issue with my Xbox one. When I go to use my controller to turn on the console, I'd say about 75% of the time, the Xbox logo on the controller slowly blinks and nothing happens. I have to get up and manually turn it on, but that's not
the end of this problem.

Once the Xbox is power on my controller still will not sync, I have to hardwire my controller, go into the settings and restart the console. At that point everything works as it should.

I don't know what causes this, I used to think it was my controller but I recently bought an elite controller and I still experience the same issue. I've also changed the power settings from Instant on to energy saving mode and I still experience this.
I've also already factory reset the Xbox and nothing was fixed. I'm still under warranty with this Xbox (I bought the 2 year warranty from the Microsoft store) should I take it back or is there another suggestion?

I have 4 controllers that worked percfetly for 12 months, no issues. That was until I was forced to download the latest update when I signed in to my xbox live. Both USB & wireless connection kept telling me my controller is randomly disconnectioning, I
switch back & forth between normal batteries & the battery pack that came with the controllers. I got 4 more brand new controllers & the problem still there. It's not the controllers, not any of the batteries or the connections. Its the software update I got,
this problem doesn't exsist during Borderlands 2 game but it does exsist during all my other game play. Everyone needs to make xbox aware of this problem since I am not seeing a forum on the real cause. I have already sent a message to them.

controller connection issues

Make sure to press the connect/sync button on the console and then within 20 seconds press and hold the connect/sync button on the controller. Ensure that the controller is within a few feet of the Xbox 360 you are trying to connect to. If that doesn't
work, try and change batteries, using a different controller battery pack, or try a rechargeable battery pack (if you have one). Please let us know if this fixes your problem.

Based on what you've told us (the same issue happens on multiple games and multiple consoles), we need to start looking for the common factors. My first instinct is to think that the issue lies with the controllers (and it very well might). However, the issue
might also lie with the play and charge kit, since that was also a common factor.

Were these controllers connected to the console via the play and charge kit when you were performing these tests?

If you can, try these controllers out without having the play and charge kit connected. Also, try some completely different controllers (like a friend or family member's controllers) on your console without any play and charge kits connected.

Let us know how those tests go and we'll be standing by to hear from you. =)

Hi Rayvn,

Have you tried syncing the controller to another Xbox One console? In doing this test you can see whether or not the problem lies in your console no longer recognizing your controller or your controller not recognizing your console. If its the latter, then
I'm afraid you might need to buy a new controller.

In order for us to isolate the issue further I would like to ask some questions.

Is this happening with other controller? Also, are you on Xbox or PC?

1) I did use the controllers when testing on the second console.

2) No, the controllers are just regular Microsoft controllers. I also use the same NYKO brand play and charge kit for both.

3) They just came up within the past week.

4) I have also tried other games as well, some downloaded and some on disc.

5) A separate hard drive was used to test.
