Controller connected, not working??

I've had my console since day one and haven't had any issues. Today I tried to play and controller isn't working. It is lit up, but I don't see the red infrared light on top of controller like I used to. I've connected it with my USB, nothing. Tried connecting
with Kinect, still doesn't work. It flashes like it's searching and then connects, but no response on screen. Do I need to get the controller fixed? I had used it about 20 minutes earlier and it was fine.

Well which is it? controller? battery shifting? console? Don't send back the console until u try the other things first.

Well nevermind...got it working. Just had to do a hard reboot. Disconnected all power from the console and after firing it back up it works just fine.

Try updating the controller's firmware,then re-sync the controller to the console.

I assume it is lit so try this mate

There is a small button on front of controller press and hold until light flashes release button

Now press button again the light should stay on showing it as been reconnected hope this helps

This has happened to me as well, I got a xbox one 20th anniversary controller a few months ago. This is happening on this controller.

If I am in the party, I can hear them but, they can't hear me. Controls do nothing, according to my series X the controller is not disconnected. I can't do anything with it.

I pull the battery, use my other controller and everything is fine.
