Controller connected but not working

Around a month ago my wireless pro controller started disconnecting intermittently on its own. It would be working fine, then the power light on the controller would blink a few times before reconnecting again.

Then around a week ago, the controller stopped doing this and is instead showing that it is connected but the Xbox One X isn’t receiving any inputs for some reason. So no matter what buttons I push, nothing happens on the Xbox.

I tried replacing the batteries, plugging the controller directly into the Xbox, updating the controller and console, hard resetting/unplugging the console and nothing fixed the issue.

I assumed my controller must have just broken so I bought a brand new one yesterday. At first this new controller seemed to fix the issue, until this morning when it started again. The new controller also connects to the Xbox, but doesn’t actually do anything. I tried all the same troubleshooting steps with this new controller to no avail.

I can’t tell if this is an issue with these controllers or my Xbox because I can still control apps like YouTube and Spotify via the Xbox iPhone app no problem.

TLDR; Controller acts like it is connected but isn’t actually working. Replaced the controller, same issue. Already updated the controller and console, hard reset and unplugged the console for several minutes, hard wired the controller to the console, and replaced batteries.

Try updating the controller's firmware,then re-sync the controller to the console.

I assume it is lit so try this mate

There is a small button on front of controller press and hold until light flashes release button

Now press button again the light should stay on showing it as been reconnected hope this helps

When you say they are connected the button on the controller is lit

This has happened to me as well, I got a xbox one 20th anniversary controller a few months ago. This is happening on this controller.

If I am in the party, I can hear them but, they can't hear me. Controls do nothing, according to my series X the controller is not disconnected. I can't do anything with it.

I pull the battery, use my other controller and everything is fine.

Try updating controller again and then do hard reset or vice versa
