Controller connected but not working

Is this the same thing that others are having in that giant thread? Have to hard boot Xbox to get it to work again.

Xbox One controller connected but not working

Hi, I've recently been given an Xbox One from a family member as they were no longer using it, but had to buy a new controller. I've purchased a wireless remote and connected it, but it won't recognise when I press any buttons. I have the same issue when
connected via USB. I have tried to reboot the Xbox, but this doesn't help. Any suggestions?

To give a bit more info, when I take my batteries out and put them back in the controller connects but doesn't work. If I pull out the headphones from the headset adapter I can't use the headphones but the controller still worked but as soon as you pop
out the batteries the controller is toast until a hard boot.

Exactly the same issue except when I turn my xbox off and back on it still don't even work

Try another controller with fresh batteries if it still does that then you might be facing a firmware/ software issue that can be fixed by an update if MS release one soon for controllers.

Try updating the controller's firmware,then re-sync the controller to the console.

I assume it is lit so try this mate

There is a small button on front of controller press and hold until light flashes release button

Now press button again the light should stay on showing it as been reconnected hope this helps

This has happened to me as well, I got a xbox one 20th anniversary controller a few months ago. This is happening on this controller.

If I am in the party, I can hear them but, they can't hear me. Controls do nothing, according to my series X the controller is not disconnected. I can't do anything with it.

I pull the battery, use my other controller and everything is fine.

Try updating controller again and then do hard reset or vice versa
