Controller cannot connect when I plug in the HDMI cord

Okay so I decided to buy an HDMI cord for of course better quality but when I plug it in my controller cannot connect. Any Ideas?

isnt the new xb1 controler comming with a cord to connect for charging?

i have a usb to controler cord on my 360.. i love it.. and its odd how much it stays plugged in and it dosnt bother me in the least. i do connect it to play games or what not from time to time but most of the time its not an issue and is always charged..

 

HDMI Sound?

You cannot plug in both the old av cable and an hdmi cord - the 360 will only use one. The old av cord will block the hdmi from even being plugged in.

But, when you buy your Microsoft HDMI cable, it will come with an adapter that allows you to plug a separate sound device into your 360. Only
official Microsoft cables come with this.

Depending on the price of the monitor, a television with a VGA port might be cheaper than a monitor with an HDMI port. Shop around.

 

as a side note I have tried and synced the controller but the controller's lights keep flashing so it never syncs with the xbox.

 

Is your controller plugged in? If you have a play n charge cable, try connecting it to the console to re-establish a connection. Also, did you try pushing the connect button on the controller and the console? The one you use to match your controller with
the console.

Not sure on what else can be done.

 

The unfortunate part about it Bones is that I don't have a charger for the controller I use rechargeable batteries, and yes I did try and use the sync button on the controller and xbox to see if that works everytime I do that the lights on the controller
flash and that's it.

Just to be clear, you have verified that you get a picture on the tv with the new cable? Since it's hdmi, there is some "handshaking" going on between the devices. In my setup for example, I can power up the xbox at 12 o'clock (for example), but it won't
fully boot until I turn on the TV and reciver - even if thats an hour later!

This is probably not the solution for you, but it kind of looks the same way as you describe on my box to, when the rest of the equipment is turned off.

However, if I do it the other way, turning off the equipment leaving only the xbox, everything is fine.

I do see a picture and everything just the weird part is my controller cannot connect to the Xbox it's sort've weird, I even tried switching ports and that does not even work. Just the lights on my controller start flashing and I hit the sync button on both
the controller and Xbox and it keeps flashing and does not stop.

 

Hi TripplE, could you try something, power your Xbox and tv off, take the power cable out of the back of the xbox and press the power button on the Xbox several times. Reconnect the power cable, power the tv on first then your xbox. Let us know how that
works out for you.

 

Also try using regular batteries in the controllers, sometimes rechargeable batteries can be a bit hit and miss.

If you have a wireless headset it may be worth making sure that is turned off totally as they have been known to interfere with the signal from the controllers.

 

Also another thing. Check your power cable. Since the diferent lines seem to be diveded in the psu, the cable has multiple connectors. Even if it gets power to the mainboard, maybe not everything gets power if there is a bad connection. A hit and miss maybe,
bit it is free to check.
