  1. Controller buttons freaking out

    Hello everyone!

My xbox one controller buttons keep freaking out. The Y and A buttons are sending commands without anyone pushing the buttons. The buttons are not sticking and feel normal. The controller itself doesn't have any physical defects or breakage. We have
only had the controller for 5 days. The buttons seem to be responding in a pattern and then completely stops responding. We have tried turning the controller off, turning the xbox one off, changing the batteries. If it were not for the pattern thing, I
would just assume that the controller is broken. However, it seems to be going in a pattern of y, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, a, y. It is sort of acting like it would when a button sticks but no buttons are stuck. They move freely and feel normal. Any ideas?

    :)

    X button completely unresponsive

    Hey guys/gals,

Yesterday my xbox one was freaking out and yould not run properly. Once I finally got it running after multiple hard resets. I returned from work and my x button was completely unresponsive. I have power cycled my xbox multiple times hoping that would
help, I have updated my controller hoping that would work as well, but alas, it refuses. The x button is not sticky, it presses in as normal, but simply will not.

    Any ideas would be great.

The New Update For Button Mapping Problem Solved!

So today I was playing and because my left stick click and right stick click don't press down and work I use d pad left and right for the backup, I've been doing this method for a long time because I refuse to pay 40-150 dollars for a controller, and for some reason today my controller was freaking out and placing the button mapping all weird a sort and I, being the most intelligent person alive, I accidentally unmapped the B button and I couldn't get the button mapping to work, after a long stressful and angry time I called Microsoft and they took me through some steps, of course that didn't work, and the man told me to contact the controller manufactory (Because there is a difference between controllers because there is 3rd party controllers and I have myself a 3rd party controller) that I needed to call them and tell them they need to manually help me fix my problem, which they didn't answer. So I sat in my gaming chair so angary that I was just going to figure something out and I was destined to, and after several hours of trying to try different buttons on the button map I gave up. Then I remembered that like everything works again when you just remove your account from the console and readd the account to the console, which I did and now my controller works, I was able to go to the button mapping and happily set my d pad left and d pad right.

Hopefully this might of helped someone out there that had my problem, and Hope you like my little story and problem solution!

  4. Controller buttons freaking out

Ok, so we turned the controller off and then unplugged the console for 20 seconds. This solved the issue so the problem was not a broken controller.

My controller is freaking out on dash board.

    Hello Alec Welsh1,

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community.

I can see that you are having trouble with your controller. It sounds like there might be an issue with the joystick or the button sensitivity. Here are some steps you can try to fix the problem:

    - Make sure your controller is updated to the latest firmware. You can do this by connecting your controller to your console via USB and going to Settings > Devices & connections > Accessories.

    - Reset your controller by pressing and holding the Xbox button for 10 seconds, then release it. You should see the Xbox button flash a few times and then turn off.

    - Reconnect your controller to your console wirelessly or via USB and test it in the menu and dashboard.

    - If the problem persists, try using a different controller or test your controller on a different console or PC. This will help you determine if the issue is with the controller or the console.

If none of these steps work, you may need to replace or repair your controller. You can check your warranty status and request a service order on our website: Request an Xbox controller replacement | Xbox Support

We're looking forward to hearing from you. If there are any inquiries about our description or if there are any misconceptions, do reply to the post.
