    Hi,

    Since I downloaded the last xbox live update recently (through an unreliable internet connection - if that's a factor) my controller's B button and Pause button have both stopped functioning properly in-game (on all games I've tried). The B button is completely
    non-functional in the xbox home screen also.

    I've not dropped this controller or anything physical like that.

    I've tried hard resetting the console, updating controller software and operating both online and offline. None have fixed the issue. I also tried to use the controller purely through USB and this worked for about 5 minutes before the buttons again stopped
    working.

    Now I understand that this may lead you to think it's just a controller issue, but since updating, I've noticed my Xbox lagging excessively and making weird menu noises, freezing when trying to connect to xbox live. Also this lag sometimes means that the
    B button is phantom activated.. that is, it performs the function of the B button without me pushing it, yet doesn't respond when I actually do! This happened on GTA last night with my character constantly going into cinematic mode (B button) without me being
    able to control it.

    Is this an issue with the update? Or the controller? Or both?

    My Xbox Warranty runs out soon, and I would like to know if it's my console or the controller that's the likely culprit here. I've had connectivity issues between the controller and console since I bought the console 2 years ago, but never like this.

    Issues Since Most Recent Update

    Ever since the most recent update, I've been having issues with my controllers. First it was my Elite controller, with the start, Y, and X buttons suddenly not working. Connected another controller to find similar issues with the A, B, and start buttons.

    My controllers were fine two days ago. Not quite sure what's going on.

    Any ideas? Solutions?

  3. General Issues Since Last Update

    Try doing a hard reset by holding the power button on the front of the console until it turns off then unplug the power brick from the console and the outlet for a minute then plug back in and power back on to see if it resolves the issue

    Good day,

    Thank you for the promp response. No, it is not via bluetooth. I only play with the controller on a cable into the xbox. I do not play wireless. What is odd, as I explained earlier, my options button is not working at all, and it seems over sensitive when not in a game. It is very annoying as I cant select certain things due to this, and in game I can not access certain functions, as the option button is not working at all. Im on an Xbox Series X with an Elite V2 Controller

    I'm sorry for the mistake, I would like to know how long you were having this problem and if the control had previously worked without problems. With the intention of helping you, I am going to suggest performing some steps that seem basic, but sometimes the problem can be something small:

    So, a hard reset of your Xbox Series X should resolve any controller connectivity issues. Press and hold the Xbox button on the front of your console for 10 seconds, waiting until you hear and see the console turn off. Wait a few more seconds, then press the Xbox button again to turn on your console.

    In the latest firmware update it may affect the connection and Bluetooth performance with some older devices such as Xbox

    If your controller is experiencing Bluetooth-related issues after a firmware update, you may choose to roll back your controller to a previous firmware version to fix the issue.

    Some things to keep in mind are that you should only roll back your controller firmware if your controller has frequent issues with connections to non-Xbox devices.

    And some older model drivers may not see the option to roll back the firmware.
