    Controller battery critical low

4 different Xbox controllers stopped working at the same time. When plugged in they say critical battery then shut off. When putting in new batteries it says critical battery then shut off. Tried new non rechargeable batteries from to different packs same thing. This is on series x. Tested the issue on xbox on x and the same issue. Tried 3 different usb cables same issue. I can’t run a controller update because even when plugged in it says plug it in to update. Attempted to power cycle both consoles same issue. Tested the cables on two different devices and they work just fine.

    :)

    Hello Rob how are you?

My name is Ezequiel I'm an Independent Consultant.

I suggest you take the controllers to Xbox technical assistance, I believe the battery must have been overcharged in some way that must have affected all four controllers at the same time.

Please click on this link so that you can make a repair request to the technical assistance.

Try the controllers plugged in via USB, and/or on another Xbox

If they work in those cases, the controller wireless board has likely failed and will likely have to be repaired

Experiencing issues with multiple controllers on both your Xbox Series X and Xbox One X indicates that the problem might not be isolated to the controllers themselves. There could be an underlying issue with the console's hardware or software. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

    1. **Check for System Updates**:
    - Ensure that your Xbox Series X and Xbox One X have the latest system updates installed. Sometimes, system updates can fix compatibility issues.

    2. **Hard Reset the Consoles**:
    - Completely power off the consoles by holding down the power button for about 10 seconds.
    - Unplug the power cords from the consoles.
    - Wait for a few minutes and then plug the power cords back in.
    - Turn on the consoles and check if the controllers work properly.

    3. **Test with a Wired Controller**:
    - If you have access to a wired Xbox controller, test it to see if it works when connected directly to the console.

    4. **Test with a Different Account**:
    - Sometimes, certain account-related issues can affect controller functionality. Test with a different Xbox account to see if the issue persists.

    5. **Reset Controller Connections**:
    - On your Xbox Series X and Xbox One X, go to the settings and find the "Devices & connections" section.
    - Look for an option to manage connected controllers. Remove all controllers from the list and then re-pair them.

    6. **Check for Interference**:
    - Wireless interference can affect controller performance. Make sure there are no strong sources of interference near your consoles.

    7. **Factory Reset (Advanced)**:
    - If none of the above steps work, you might consider performing a factory reset on your consoles. Keep in mind that this will erase all data and settings on the consoles, so be sure to back up your data if possible.

    8. **Contact Xbox Support**:
    - If the issue persists after trying these steps, it's recommended to contact Xbox Support for more personalized assistance. They can guide you through advanced troubleshooting and determine if a repair or replacement is necessary.

Given that you've tested multiple controllers and encountered the same issue on two different Xbox consoles, the problem seems to be more on the console side. Xbox Support will likely be your best resource for resolving this issue.
