controller bad update?

hello,

Hoping someone can help me with my controller issue.

i tried to use my headset yesterday, and the console told me the controller needs an update.

so i proceeded to update, connecting the controller to the console via usb.

when the update started, it immediatly turned my controller off, which i though was normal because the update informed me my controller may become unresponsive during update. The progress bar would go up to 99% and then drop down to 0% like a loop. Did this
approx 5 times. End result was "something went wrong"

my controller still works, but only via usb, and wont sync wirelessly anymore.

i have tried connecting the controller to the console via usb from a cold boot, this didnt work.

left the controller in for like 30 mins to hopefully restore firmware, didnt work.

tried updating it again on my windows 10 pc, same result 0% - 99% loop then fail.

Also read the sticky on this forum, nothing has helped.

is my controller doomed to be a usb only controller now? pretty bad that an update broke my controller, they should really have a warning about this.

2 wired controllers both connecting to player 1

try the controller in the rear USB port. if it registers correclly , the USB port is bad. if the same thing happes the controller is bad

 

Xbox One controller better than PS4?

I like the PS4 controller betterer. Dat Xbox controller doe.. don't look too bad.

Sorry to hear about the controller connection problems. Sounds like you've done a bit of troubleshooting already, but please give

this guide a shot if you haven't already and let us know if it helps.

Also, have you been able to try another controller on the console to see if the problem is happening with multiple controllers? Another idea would be to try this controller on a different console to see if there is any changes.

I have a similar issue. I was updating mine and it went to 4% then quit. Console rebooted and did not work, Plugged in the USB cable and still didn't work. Replaced the batteries and tested again, still does not work.

 

This should be replaced under warranty, where can i get the replacement information.

 

Controller is off to service center for a replacement, couldnt get it to work, however its still under warranty.

and entered console serial, clicked on service my console, then it had a controller accessory option, then entered controller serial.

hope this helps anyone else with the same issue.
