controller acting up!!!!

so today when I tried playing mw2 my controller started acting up. when I try to sprint it doesn't work, when I reload it knives instead, and I cant crouch. the controller is 2 months old and im not sure if its the game or the controller.

Controller acting up

So I've recently had this thing happen with my controller where for a few minutes after starting my Xbox One, whenever I move using the D-Pad or Joystick it moves two places instead of one. I've tried opening the home menu, moving to different tabs, it always
moves two spaces instead of one. In addition, if I can finally manage to get it to go on the option that I want (a game, app, etc.), and I try to push the A button to select it, the Xbox is unresponsive and won't open anything. If I hold down the A button
it just flashes as though I have pushed the button over and over. Eventually (say 2-3 minutes) I am able to access everything, but it is rather annoying that there is a delay. Anyone else having this issue and/or has a fix?

Hey there

Welcome to the forums

To make sure that it isn't the games, you can check your controller settings through the in game settings. You should be able to see if the controllers controls have been altered. If the game is new, then it may be the Xbox 360 Controller. If you have got
a spare one, you may want to try using that. Or see if you can borrow one from your friends.

If you find that the controller is the problem, you will need to buy a new one. You may be able to take it back and ask the game store to swap it for a new controller.

Also, please use the controller with other games to see if it works fine with them.

when i move my right stick a little bit it stops it for about 30 seconds, then it starts again, i also use my controller plugged in so i don’t know if that would change anything, the everything double moves when i use it, for instance, when i’m scrolling on youtube, it will skip a spot and move to the next

Seems to be a stick drift, im guessing your warranty was already over because you decided to open the controller, but the best options in this cases are

1.- try to update the controller, even if the system says it's already updated you can anyway press on update and sometimes this helps a little bit

2.- some FPS hace a setting to adjust dead zone, you could try adjusting it to reduce the drift
