    The heading says it all. All of a sudden I just seem to continue to get this issue. I've tried uninstalling the app, formatting the hard drive, hard reset and different usb ports but I still have the same issue. I've noticed I'm not the only one with this
    problem but I'm yet to see a fix. Any suggestions?

  2. my portable hard drive is not working

    i have a 500gb portable hard drive that i have been using for media on my xbox one, now in the media player app it says need to connect a usb device when it is in. I tried putting in another hard drive and it worked. The hard drive works fine on my computer but when I put it in my Xbox it doesnt show up

    Media Player Preview loses connection to USB device periodically

    I tried using the new media player, and a few times while watching the movie, I got a message that the connection to the USB drive was lost at the same time I got a new notification saying the USB device was ready. I had to navigate back to my original place
    in the movie.

    Is anyone else experiencing this issue or have any suggestions?

    I get this to, but not just through usb, but whilst streaming through my network too.

    There was a post from last year that was closed, which suggested uninstalling and then reinstalling the app. but that seems to not have any effect.(

    Its rather annoying when the video your watching quits out and you have to fast forward to where it quit out, to watch the rest. I'm not sure if this was marked down as a bug and if its being looked into.

    Anyone managed to fix this?

    I have also received the 0xc101008e (0x80072efe) exception but while streaming music from the PLEX media server to the XBOX One media player. Media player works fine for a while then throws the exception.

    I have tried uninstalling and re-installing the media player app.

    The network is hardwired using Cat 5 Ethernet and the network test is fine.

    I have the same problem, it's really annoying. I have a 1.5Tb usb 3.0, disconnect randomly on my Xbox One bought on day one, but on my nephew system bought this Christmas never happen...same drive, watch a lot movie during holiday , never happen...now explained
    that to me xbox support.

    Sorry to hear about the USB device connection issues and I can definitely understand how frustrating that could be. This issue has been bubbled up to the proper teams to investigate. We will update this thread when we have more information to provide.
    In the meantime, please go ahead and try the following steps if you haven't already:

    • First, try Uninstalling and reinstalling the Media Player app.
    • Press and hold the power button on your Xbox One console for 10 seconds.
    • Once your console is powered off, unplug the power cord.
    • Wait 5 minutes and then plug in your console.
    • Power on your console and check to see if the issue continues to occur.

  11. Thanks for the reply. I'm still getting the error but hopefully a fix is incoming.

    Probably a separate issue but BBC iPlayer doesn't work anymore either. Every time I choose something to watch I get kicked back to the dashboard.

  12. This is half arsed customer service at it's best. This has been an issue for quite a while now and you are no further forward, and just pasting the same answer in each thread is lazy especially when reading through the suggested work arounds were already
    tried without success. Looks like MS does not take this seriously and takes it't customer as a bunch of mugs.

    I've been having the same problem recently. I would watch countless hours of anime from a USB with no issue but since a couple weeks ago, it's been constantly losing connection, only getting more frequent over the days with it disconnecting every couple
    of episodes. If a solution could be found, it would be great.

    Thank you for continuing to provide us with the detailed information. If you haven't already, please go ahead and give the troubleshooting steps that I have provided a try. Also, I recommend trying a few additional steps:

    • From the Dashboard, press the Menu button on your Xbox One controller.
    • Select Settings and select Power.
    • Make sure that "When Xbox is off, turn off storage" is not selected.
