  1. Content Restrictions for family member not working

I have my son set up with an account and added to me under family. I have his content restriction set to 13 and below. However when he is signed in his content restrictions is set to Unrestricted. I have tried several times to make changes, log out, only
have him signed in, restarted. But nothing I do seems to change this. It is accepting the restriction I set for Block Explicit TV whenever I change it, but Content Restrictions and Web Filtering will not change. Any ideas?

    :)

Microsoft, PLEASE just give us (Gold Members) codes for DiRT 3

Child account restrictions, ask the member of your family that is the "adult" of the account.

Content Restrictions for family member not working

    Hi gadgetdad,

Sorry you're having issues with your Family Settings on your Xbox One. Where are you getting this error? Is it on the TV? If that's the case, then you need to setup your Set top box with Parental Controls. The Xbox does not filter the STB (set top box).
The Xbox just takes whatever signal it gets for HDMi and passes it to the television. The guide and channels are not from the STB, and just something that MS programs for your select provider.

Basically the family settings are more for internet and apps. For example. My kids Xbox doesn't have a STB and instead they use the Verizon APP which does block content based on the age set up on their profile. Now you stated that internet also? That should
be blocked based on your selections. I would go online and verify that it shows their accounts blocked. To check this go to live.xbox.com, then click "my account" under your gamertag in the top right. Then click "Security, family, & forums". After that, Click
"online safety for Xbox On" Under Privacy & Online safety. Select the profile you want to manage, and ensure the proper settings are there. If you do not see any change, then go ahead and make them here. If you do not see the profile you want, then go to the
link below and setup your family safety settings.

If you try to join Fortnite experiences and are unable to because it says "This experience is locked. Your parent or guardian needs to unlock it

I am sorry to hear that.

You can grant access to the game.

Make sure to configure it accordingly.

Open the Xbox Family Settings app on your mobile device, and then go to Settings.

Select Content restrictions, and then under Apply age filters change the age limit that you want to apply to the member’s games, apps, and other content.

Any content that has a higher rating than the selected restriction needs an organizer’s approval.

If I remove my son from the family account so he doesn’t have any restrictions will this affect him being able to use the Xbox account use

Hi Jennifer, my name is Rodrigo. I'm an Independent Advisor and a member of the Microsoft community and I'd love to assist you today.

If he is receiving subscription-sharing via the family, he will lose access to it.

The Family Organizer can configure it accordingly, so you don't need to remove the account.

    Please, follow these steps:

Open the Xbox Family Settings app on your mobile device, and then go to Settings.

Select Content restrictions, and then under Apply age filters change the age limit that you want to apply to the member’s games, apps, and other content.

    Game restrictions

I had the exact same problem and tried everything i could think of to resolve it - aside from removing the child accounts from the family group, which defeats the whole purpose! I even tried changing to no restrictions online in our Microsoft Family settings,
but continued to receive the prompt that the content was above their restrictions. Here is the fix (scroll down to the Xbox One section and follow the steps):

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4026341

    1. Go to Settings on the Xbox

    2. Go to Account

    3. Family Settings

    4. Manage Family Members

    5. Select account to manage

    6. Select Access to Content

    7. Set the appropriate age level

Just set the content restriction there to the appropriate age level and that should allow anything up to that age rating. Why this doesn’t actually work from the online family settings and apply to the Xbox there is a mystery to me.

    Hope this helps!
