Content restrictions are Off, but son is still blocked from playing adult games

Before yesterday my son was doing fine playing Call of Duty and whatnot. I give him full permissions to play what he wants and to play online. He is playing on an XBox One X.

It has been two days now and he is unable to play. I have tried turning content restrictions on and off again. We have reboot the console. He has logged off then back on. We have tried logging me on to authorize him at the XBox, but he still can't play.

He was able to play, I have changed nothing, and now he is being blocked. On top of it his mom just bought him Doom Eternal, and that's blocked too. You know if you couldn't play your new game it would drive you crazy. How do I troubleshoot and resolve
this?

Hi there sometimes the account changes are not instant. I've had to wait a week for some to finally register a change so it could just be delayed. If it still persists what I've noticed can help is removing the account and re adding the account again almost
always works for me. I hope this helps and hope you are well and safe.

Fortunately I never mentioned what games my son plays and to be honest most of the adult games aren't blocked anyway, and he does however not play games like saints row or other games with sexual content etc.

I've compared what I can do and see with my account to my sons (who is a teenager not a child) and MSFT does block/not allow things he could be watching or playing and dosen't block stuff he shouldn't so there's a lot of irony there that the age restriction
technically isn't perfect......

All I'm saying is if I think my son should be able to connect to netflix and watch a star trek movie then thats my choice, I should be able to block and unblock that action as well as game content etc.

You changing their Privacy Settings from Child to Adult doesn't change the account status to adult itself. So pretty much their accounts are still child. It will be possible to change it to adult as soon as they reach 18. If that is the age of an adult in
your country ofc. You cannot change that setting manually. The restriction on downloadable content stays locked until they reach the required age depending on the content age restriction.

this is in the MSN video app. Okay so i can have family settings turned off with an adult account and they are blocked yet on my 5 year old sons app with family settings on and i remove all restrictions i can watch them. How Odd????

Thank you! I think it must just be an nhl issue as I have removed him from our family, made sure he is listed as an adult and rebooted. Still no luck in being able to purchase nhl points. I still get the message “you cannot purchase in game content because
of how your account is set up”, but account is set to adult and all blocks are off. 😡
