Constantly losing connection to xbox live with great connection

Over the past month I have been constantly losing connection to xbox live for a few seconds and then it comes back right away but I always end up getting kicked out of my games due to this. Was wondering if anyone else was having the same problem. Also,
am in the preview program which I now opted out of in case it was the problem.

Constantly losing connection

So first off: - I have NO access to the modem as I live in an apartment - I have tried wired and wirelessly playing - I have a netgear router. If it's completely neccessary, I'll list the specs or whatever. Alright so I just recently bought this router
not even a week ago because my router broke last semester. So we get the xbox connected and such for the first night, and all is well with xbox and cod Ghosts. As of lately, every time we attempt to connect to an online multiplayer game or extinction, we either
get to jump in the game for maybe 10 seconds and then get booted with a "connection to host lost" or something like that. I also have been playing NCAA 14 and while on the load up, I lose connection to the EA Servers when I'm not even attempting to play online.
I also get disconnected while playing extinction offline for the love of God. All in all, I frequently immediately go to the network settings afterwards and find that I'm completely connected to xbox live as always. It feels like I get dropped when attempting
to play a game that can be played online which is a lot of my games. I've been seeing that this has been happening to a lot of people posting here and other websites so please, just tell me what's going on and when to expect the update that's been *** with
a lot of people's connections. I FIRMLY believe this problem has little to do with my internet. So just cut to the chase please

please anyone... what am I doing wrong with my xbox? I just want to watch my movies without my usb losing connection constantly..!

 

Disconnections are almost always the router , either settings , firmware or just the router itself , if you are wireless , some just are not compatible anymore (some Arris , Superhubs and Technicolor to name a few) list the name and model you are using
and we'll look it up.....if you are wireless , try a wired connection and see if the problem disappears , or visa -versa if you are wired...

 

Not my question but definitely my experience:

Comcast Gateway - Arris TG1682G

If this one is not compatible what should I ask for/purchase to replace it?

 

@Chazquatch , you are MUCH better off (and its cheaper in the long run) if you get your own ....get a plain modem and a separate router ....do NOT get a gateway like you have now....Netgear seams to be the most xbox friendly imo , I only paid a hundred
bucks for both mine , no need to go crazy on the router , cheapie is fine....hardwire if possible for the best connection....
