Constantly disconnecting from Xbox Live

Hi guys,

This problem has been happening for at least 2 years, but seems to be getting worse and is incredibly frustrating:

My Xbox keeps disconnecting from Xbox live whenever i play online. However downloading DLC etc seems to work fine. How often is disconnects depends on the game I'm playing, for example:

MW2 - would disconnect from Xbox Live every half an hour or so

MW3/BO2 - doesn't actually disconnect from Xbox live, but says "the servers are unavailable" this cant be the case because my friends would still be playing in the exact same game (party chat). also i can join their session in progress and get put back into
the same game.

GTA5 - varies from every 5 to 15 minutes and actually disconnects from Live.

Furthermore, when it does disconnect, i can normally connect back online straight away. although, sometimes this fails - it fails 3 times and then on the 4th time reconnects - this is the same every time, always 3 fails then connects.

I had the old 20GB white xbox 360, but have recently brought the 250GB xbox360/GO and the problem persists. All other devices on the network stay connected and have no problems. so i am currently running it with the built in wireless, and would need to re-locate
or have a long Ethernet lead to have a wired connection.

obviously this is very frustrating especially as when i disconnect 99% of the time i loose all data/challenges/money etc i gain in that online session.

Any help would be much appreciated, not only will it improve my experience, but also those i play with.

I'm also getting the same problem while playing Crackdown and Crackdown 2. I get disconnects every 5 to 20 minutes. Sometimes, I could play for an hour or two without a disconnect. It started on Monday and I've never had problems like this before.

I'm using an old white Xbox 360. No other devices are affected.

My ISP was hit by a denial of service attack last week that was causing DNS errors, but they resolved that problem.

 

Hi! I would strongly recommend to test your Xbox Live connection first and if it's up and running. You may need to consider the ports to connect to Xbox Live and Game servers. These ports will help you connect to live and game without any problem. If these
ports are closed most likely you will be disconnected. For further assistance on how to open your ports. You may need to contact your ISP.

Seems like lot's of people are getting disconnected from live....and I know it is not at my end. I done the cache, profile, router,,,and several other things...and the results are pretty much the same.

 

If the ports are not opened then there's a higher decency that you will be disconnected.

Let's say make an analogy. Let's say these ports are the doors in your house. If these doors are closed how are you going to enter into the house. Still you're only in the garage but not inside the house.

But once these ports are opened you can easily enter into the house or shall I say that you'll be able to connect to Live and in-game servers.

Note: In game server are using a different ports.

It's not the ports....it is xbox live

 

Right, so I found out that UPnP wasn't on.. ive turned turned it on now and its made no difference whatsoever. Havent managed to look into the ports to see if that makes a difference

 

I've been disconnecting from games and party's the past 2 days my connection is done and I stay on xbox live even when I disconnect from party's and games wtf xbox like really help

 

I've been having this problem for months, I can't do anything online with my xbox without being disconnected within a matter of minutes. So I just stopped using my xbox for anything but offline gaming. Unfortunately I was rearranging things and lost my
ps3 power cable, so now I'm forced back to my xbox for Netflix and hulu and to. For months I had no problem, ever with my ps3. Minutes after trying to load xbox and watch netflix......disconnected. Customer support gives you no answers. You can answer
all the questions right, change everything the way they want to. But it does no good. Now they just blame my internet. Funny how the laptop, ipad. And anything else has no problem online . I used to love my xbox....but this is why I'm cautious on the
xbox one.
