Constantly Disconnecting From Xbox Live at College for No Reason

Ever since this semester started I've been constantly disconnecting from Xbox Live. What's more annoying is that this is my fourth semester and it's the first time I've had this problem. I contacted IT and they told me to try using a different ethernet cord,
which didn't help, and then they came to my room and attempted to fix the problem, but it didn't work. When I told them the problem persisted they told me there is nothing more they can do. I get disconnected roughly every 30 minutes when I am playing an offline
game (such as the Halo campaigns), and I am disconnected even more frequently when I try to play Gears online. I am lucky to even finish a match before I get disconnected. I lose connection even when I am sitting at the dashboard doing absolutely nothing.
I have a great connection when the internet is actually working. I have 20.75 Mbps down and 88.40 Mbps up, and my ping on Gears is always below 40, yet I still disconnect constantly. Since there is nothing that the IT department can do to help (or is willing
to do), is there anything that I can do myself to try to fix this, or at least determine if it's somehow a problem with my Xbox?

in a nutshell send them the wired macc address from your xbox and have them white list your device to the network,

then make sure your xbox one is set to energy saving so that way its not accessing any network data when your not in the dorm room or away. I doubt it could be the Ethernet cable but it doesn't hurt to check

but in all honesty your at the mercy of the I.T department , when I was in college I've had a similar experience :/

ultimately if you want to get away from the dorm provided internet you can look into getting a mobile hotspot bu then again its not a support option but it is an option none the less

 

do you just plug straight in or do you have a modem and router ? Is NAT open?

 

I forgot to mention that. I live in a dorm so I just plug straight into an ethernet port in my wall, so I don't have a modem or router. I have a strict NAT and it's been strict since the semester started. I actually don't remember if my NAT was always strict,
but I'm almost certain it's usually been moderate. The strange thing about it is that my ping and internet speeds are much better this semester than they ever have been, yet my NAT type is strict and I have the frequent disconnections.

 

the IT department is your only hope if you are plugged straight in and still have a strict NAT , its on them ...you might ask if they can open the ports you need or put the MAC address of your xbox on their "OK" list...
