Constant system issues, apps crashing, games not loading, HHD not being detected, etc etc

OK, so Im about ready to to smash my console to bits and jump ship Im getting that frustrated with this console. Im currently using a replacement console as mine has been sent off to MS for them to take a look at it, but this seems to be every bit as bad
as mine, leading me to suspect theres nothing wrong with mine anyway and something else is up. Maybe its the way I am using it that it doesnt like, Im not sure, but Ill list some of the issues and see if anyone can help.

One prevailing issue is the external HDD not be detected intermittently. Some days Ill switch the console on and non of my games are showing up because the console isnt detecting the external HDD. Ive had to purchase one as the internal 350Gb HDD filled
up in no time and my 2Tb HDD is now 50% full as well. Its USB 3.0 so should work fine. A frustrating side effect of this is that when I try start a game it tries to install back to the internal drive, and resets this as the default storage device, meaning
I then have to manage the whole thing again. As this happens at least every other day, and sometimes twice on the same day, the issue is driving me crazy.

Another problem I am having is that games regularly fail to load, with the too long error. Sometimes they will load but crash at the start screen and I have to again get up, and unplug the console to reset it. This happens on a daily basis with some games
taking 3 or 4 attempts to get them going, but occasionally even then they will crash mid game. This issue also affects apps. This issue seems to stem from the use of the external drive, with some games having issues with missing textures etc.

Another issue is that sometimes the console will freeze on startup, and again this is happening with this replacement console. No idea why, but this happens every few days and just serves to really wind me up with the other issues too.

One theory I have is that maybe my internet connection is an issue. I originally doubted the external storage but I get these issues using the internal drive as well. I switched some games to the internal drive, like the ones I use most often, but the same
issues prevail so that seems to rule out the external drive as a major issue. I know my internet connection isnt that stable, almost all games suffer from lag even with a very good connection test result. The console clearly maintains a constant connection
to the internet even when its idling, and seems to constantly check licences etc, and Im wondering if an unstable connection might cause this process to freeze or stutter, having a knock on affect with the consoles general operation. In any case, Ive been
through a few options from reading online, clearing the cache, resetting the console to factory and starting again, disconnecting the external drive and using just the internal one, nothing seems to make any difference and now Im not even using my console,
but a temp replacement one from microsoft, I cant even be sure my hardware was or is at fault.

If anyone has any ideas, Im all ears. BTW, Im posting this because I tried to play Forza 5 this morning, which took three attempts to get working, then crashed and froze my xbox during the second race.

    :)

  2. How're you all liking Dragonborn?

Getting a lot of glitches, texture issues, framerate issues, loading issues etc etc. Not playing until an update is released.

    Worst support ever?

Jyxa, thanks. I'm just livid that no on at Microsoft is speaking up. The faulty disc drive is an obvious hardware failure, but what about games not loading, not installing, crashing back to home screen repeatedly etc….Seems to be plauging every launch
    game.

    Hi,

How do you have your console connected to the power? is it plugged directly into the mains or via a power strip? Is there a surge protector present in your setup? If you are using a surge protector, stop using it. The console already has a surge protector
    built into the power brick.

One thing is certain, it's not your internet connection. Intermittent or slow connections will have zero affect when playing single player games on the Xbox one.

It is plugged into a power strip but there's no surge protector in it. I've moved a couple apps to the internal drive and theyve started working now, so I'm starting to wonder if the problem is the external had. The drive is fine and is usb 3.0, so if the
drive is the issue in struggling to see how this is going to be resolved, I have 80 games stored on it and the internal HDD isn't close to big enough.

Is this forum actually supported by xbox staff or is it just a community forum?

  7. This is both a community support forum and an official support forum. There is no guarantee of having your issue looked at by an official support representative though.

Apologies for not responding, I've been away for a few days.

Have you resolved this issue now? If not, can you connect your console directly to mains or try another known working power strip? I had similar issues as yours when I first had my Xbox One. In fact, I replaced the machine twice with Xbox Support.

Turned out to be my power strip was causing major issues with my previous consoles. My console would ether randomly crash, fail to load certain games textures (like no road in Forza), fail to sync saves games, sometimes crash using apps. The first console
got so bad that it would no longer boot, while the second console eventually would not go past the Xbox One logo splash screen.

It was only on the third console that the issue was resolved. I stopped using the power strip and plugged the machine straight into the mains. Been working fine since.

Thanks for your help, ill give this a try. I've now disconnected my external HDD to rule that out and I'm using a replacement console while mine gets looked at, but this console is also having issues so I'm reluctant to blame hardware. I know my internet
connection is unstable at times and that causes issues, but ill give the power strip thing a go even though all other devices using it are fine. I have to say this console foes seem rather fragile and temperamental.

    Hey guys,

Did you ever resolve this? My Xbox One is experiencing the extact same issues over the past week or so and I cannot seem to find a solution? It's definately not the internet connection and I've restored the console to factory settings, moved games to my
internal HDD etc just as above but still no luck here either.

I've tried plugging mine into the mains but no luck.

Mine stems from installing State of Decay which was crashing as it's glitchy anyway. Xbox Support told me to then delete my profile off of my console and hard reset the console. Once I loaded my profile back onto the Xbox One, all my other games where glitching
and missing textures, sounds etc and State of Decay was still a mess itself as well!!

Any ideas at all would be great - still not convinced it's a hardware issue itself but more something to do with the cloud saving or external HDD perhaps..

  10. Which brand / model external Discs are you guys using?

Some of them may be using slower discs which could easily cause issues with loading.
