  1. Constant problems with my Xbox 360 Slim and my HDMI TV

Usually I play my Xbox 360 Slim with either the AV or EXT leads but this time I wanted to connect my HD TV to my Console with a HDMI cable. I've done it before but for some reason it just stopped. After doing some research I was suggested to enable my Display
Discovery setting. I even followed the video to find the setting but I couldn't find it. I did a bit more research and apparently Microsoft had released an update specifically for the HDMI settings. I thought I didn't have it so I cross checked my dashboard
update number with the latest update number on this update. They were indifferent to eachother. "Maybe this is a mistake", so I did a bit of digging to find how to update my console. Go to the metwork settings and test the Xbox Live connection and the update
should come automatically. At least that's what they said. I did so and nothing happend.

So here I am. I did what I could and I still couldn't find any solution to my problem.

The kind of answer I'm looking for is whether this is a technical issue or and physical issue with my HDMI cable plugs or the lead itself.

If it is a technical issue then somebody should be giving me either instructions to fix the problem or something on the lines of "Your Xbox is broken and it cannot be resolved".

If it is a physical issue then the only guess I can conjure is that the Xbox would detect the HDMI cable and then unlock the options I require. Then again that seems silly since I cannot see what I'm doing because there's no visual input on the TV currently
so this is least likely the situation.

Help would be nice as the Chat contacts on this website are backwards and do not work.

(This next paragraph is about why this websites chat contact option does not work. You may skip is if you don't want to know about it.)

I wanted to avoid calling or Emailing the help service for whatever reason and wanted to use the live chat option in the 'Contact Us' part of this website. I clicked and followed the link to where it wanted some details. One
of which was that I signed in. So I did. But then it required that I inputted my Email and name. This shouldn't be a problem considering the Microsoft account already filled in my Email for me. However the boxes where it required my first and last name were
disabled making it impossible for me to fill the remaining required text boxes before proceeding. The problem is obvious. I cannot talk to anyone without inputting required information that it won't allow me to give to it.

    :)

No More Video Output to Monitor

    Hi.

I'm going to try and be as detailed as possible with this one. About to pull hair out.

    ----------------------------------------------------

    Materials On-Hand:

    Xbox 360 Slim (The Culprit)

Xbox 360 Pro with HDMI Output (Alternate Test Subject)

Laptop Computer with HDMI Output (Alternate Test Subject)

    HDMI-HDMI Cable (Works Fine)

    HDMI-DVI Cable (Works Fine)

Dell 2408WFP Monitor (Has DVI Port, HDMI Port, Composite Video Port)

Dell 2208WFPt Monitor (Has DVI Port)

40" Sony LCD TV (1080P Capable)

60" Sony LCD TV (1080P Capable)

    ----------------------------------------------------

    History:

    - For the past 7 months, I've had my Xbox 360 Slim connected to my Dell 2408WFP Monitor with an HDMI-HDMI Cable. No issues.

    - A couple of weeks ago, I lent my xbox to a friend a couple doors away. He has a Dell 2208WFPt monitor, which does not have an HDMI Input. I gave him an HDMI-DVI cable to use, and it worked on the monitor with no issues.

    - When I got my xbox back, it refuses to output a video signal to my Dell 2408WFP Monitor via HDMI-HDMI or HDMI-DVI. Nothing I do can get it to output to my monitor (which it was working fine with for the 7 months prior to me hooking it up via HDMI-DVI to
    the Dell 2208WFPt).

    ----------------------------------------------------

    Configurations Tested:

    Xbox 360 Slim + HDMI-HDMI Cable + Dell 2408WFP Monitor = NO Video/Audio

    Xbox 360 Slim + HDMI-DVI Cable + Dell 2408WFP Monitor =
    NO Video/Audio

Laptop Computer + HDMI-HDMI Cable + Dell 2408WFP Monitor = Video GOOD (Proves that 2408WFP HDMI Port and HDMI-HDMI cable both work)

    Laptop Computer + HDMI-DVI Cable + Dell 2408WFP Monitor =
Video GOOD (Proves that 2408WFP DVI Port and HDMI-DVI Cable both work)

    Xbox 360 Pro (Borrowed from Friend) + HDMI-HDMI Cable + Dell 2408WFP Monitor =
    Video/Audio GOOD

    Xbox 360 Pro (Borrowed from Friend) + HDMI-DVI Cable + Dell 2408WFP Monitor =
    Video/Audio GOOD

    Xbox 360 Slim + HDMI-DVI Cable + Dell 2208WFPt Monitor =
Video GOOD (Proves that Xbox 360 Slim still outputs DVI Signal OK)

    Xbox 360 Slim + HDMI-HDMI Cable + 40" Sony LCD TV =
Video/Audio GOOD (Proves that Xbox 360 Slim still outputs HDMI Signal OK)

    Xbox 360 Slim + HDMI-HDMI Cable + 60" Sony LCD TV = Video/Audio GOOD

    ----------------------------------------------------

    Troubleshooting Options Attempted:

    Factory-Reset Dell 2408WFP Monitor

    Turning Display Discovery Off

    Turning Display Discovery On

Attempting to Reset Display Settings with Right-Trigger + "Y" Button upon Boot

Hooking Xbox 360 Slim up to Dell 2208WFPt monitor, setting a lower resolution, and hot-swapping to Dell 2408WFP monitor (Both HDMI-HDMI and HDMI-DVI Cables)

"Blindly" Navigating Menus while hooked up to Dell 2408 WFP monitor (HDMI-HDMI and HDMI-DVI) to modify Display Discovery settings and selected resolutions

Hot-Swapping between Xbox 360 Pro (Borrowed from Friend) and
    Xbox 360 Slim

    Hot-Swapping between Laptop Computer and
    Xbox 360 Slim (HDMI-HDMI and HDMI-DVI cables)

    ----------------------------------------------------

With all of the above, my Dell 2408WFP Monitor immediately goes into Power-Save Mode when the
Xbox 360 Slim is hooked up to it. The monitor works with another xbox, a laptop, and via multiple cables. Therefore I know that the ports are good, the cables are good, and the monitor is good.... but it refuses
to display anything from my particular Xbox 360 Slim. Ever since being hooked up to the Dell 2208WFPt monitor via HDMI-DVI, it simply will not work with the Dell 2408WFP Monitor. I cannot think of any other options.
The Xbox 360 Slim works fine on any other display I try it on. Another Xbox works fine on the Dell 2408WFP Monitor with both the HDMI-HDMI and HDMI-DVI cables. As a reminder, the
Xbox 360 Slim worked just fine with the Dell 2408WFP monitor for 7 months via the HDMI-HDMI cable.

I appreciate any assistance that can be provided. I don't know what else to do. It's very mysterious. Thanks.

  4. Constant problems with my Xbox 360 Slim and my HDMI TV

Have you simply tried using a new HDMI cable?

As I have had cables/leads go faulty in the past. Even had an optical cable go faulty.

Also plenty of TVs have multiple HDMI inputs and you might have to manually select the correct HDMI socket that your console is connected to as not all TVs automatically switch inputs.

    Live TV delayed audio

Same problem when watching live tv from my AT&T box. Samsung TV (un46d6300) connected to the xbox via hdmi and then optical to my dennon receiver (avr-787) from the tv. The lag is constant for me.

360 Slim HDMI will no longer show up on older plasma (50Hz) TV's after connecting to new 60Hz 4k TV.

    Update:

My 360 Slim WILL display on older TV's when I use an Xbox One in pass-through or TV mode!

Interestingly, when I power on the older TV with the XBone, it momentarily displays 60Hz on the screen, so I think that the TV will display 60Hz fine. Rebooting the TV confirms that it is receiving 60Hz signal fine, plus when I change between resolutions
etc on the XBone, the TV handles all settings no probs.

This means that the 360 is somehow not detecting the TV & applying the correct HDMI output to get a signal. The 360 Slim HDMI must be detecting the XBone as a valid HDMI receiver, & the One is then handling the 360 output to suit the TV.

Points more & more to an issue with the Slim Box's HDMI management. Forcing manual settings still doesn't work - if I plug the Slim into the TV after seeing it work through the XBone, there is no signal.

What do you make of that???

No video or Audio using HDMI

It's a 360 slim, tried multiple ports on the TV with no success. We do get it to work with HDMI on a different TV, so I don't think it's an issue with the HDMI port on the Xbox...
