Constant internet failures among One S units

There are 2 Xbox Ones in my house, a standard unit, and a One S. The standard almost never has any issues, whereas the One S struggles miserably to stay connected to the internet every single time I turn it on, for the first 20 minutes. The two use the
exact same router and modem, with the exact same settings, and I've tried swapping their positions for extended periods of time to confirm that the positioning is irrelevant. Upon realizing this may be a problem with One S models, I asked around and found
that among my 4 friends with One S units, literally all of them have been experiencing the exact same problem, whereas my 5 friends with standard units have had no internet problems whatsoever.

Essentially turning on my One S is a huge pain because it involves toggling settings and performing power cycles every single time, trying sometimes for upwards of 25 minutes to make it work. And all One S owners I know are having the same experience.

Official Xbox staff routinely suggest switching to energy saver mode which they consider to "fix" the problem because it power cycles the console when booting up. Sure the problem is gone, along with several features, like downloading updates and games
in sleep mode (which saves me hours upon hours of downloading updates on a modest internet speed). I'm not willing to give up that functionality so that Xbox has an excuse not to fix this stuff, and nor should any consumer. This really needs to be patched.

Firmware Issue

After the latest firmware update, all networking (wired and wireless) has issues.

constant error codes (different ones)

one minute the internet connection is there, then one minute its gone.

setting up user accounts is impossible

please help

do i have a bad unit?

Xbox One S making humming noise while Off, normal?

Yes, my Xbox One S with the internal Power Supply Unit, right after being plugged into anything, also makes a whining noise for a few seconds and then a constant ticking sound. Obnoxious. None of my Sony devices have this problem - go figure.

The GC had a 5 1/2 year lifespan and sold 22 million units. It may not have come near the Playstation 2, which had a far longer lifespan, but it was hardly an outright failure. In comparison, the original Xbox sold a total of 24 million units and no one
is saying that's a failure, particularly our resident fanboi.

Currently, the 360 has sold 67.2 million units, as opposed to the Wii's 95.85 million units and the PS3's 63.9 million units. So, going by the posted logic, have the 360 and PS3 failed against the Wii's sales?

Given that the next generation is likely to be an incremental upgrade to the PS3 and 360 (and not a revolution, by any stretch), it seems Nintendo has reason for a lot of confidence, going forward.

Over time 100% will fail. The business model microsoft and others adopted using refurbished units to replace defective ones should be considered. When the console displayed the error code e68, 72 etc among red ring, 3 red lights flashing, etc you have
to consider multiple failures of the same consoles. I've had some consoles last a few weeks to the extreme of one lasting 4 years and still going.

The XBone reveal was such a failure.......It makes me wonder where the best and brightest among us have gone.
