Constant buzzing/whirring sound after installing update

Hi folks,

I purchased the Xbox One without Kinect package a few days ago and have only just got around to setting it up, when I first turned it on I was amazed how quiet it was compared to the PS4. However, after installing the latest update (6.2.11064.0 (xb_rel_1406.140601-2110)
fre) at the initial setup, there is now a constant buzzing/whirring sound coming from the right side of the console. It is only present when the console is idling at the home screen and immediately disappears when playing a game. This is the noise: Xbox One buzzing/whirring noise

I've read about others experiencing the same problem after updating, and it would be great to have a statement from Microsoft on this.

How anyone bought the kinectless Xbox One recently having problems with a buzzing sound after installing the update. The sound hits after installing the update, and its only in low power mode.

Buzzing power supply

Hi,

The power supply emits a constant buzzing sound. It's not very loud but it's constant and irritating. Is this normal or something to worry about?

I had this problem before myself and it was fixed for me when I did a hard reboot. Just hold the power button down on the console and unplug from the outlet for 30 seconds then plug back in and power back on. It should be fine after that.

I have same issue its really winding me up at night.. I have too load a game up then go back to home screen too just get it too stop for 10 mins so i can watch netflix in peace ...mine also only started after the June update .

Mine doesn't get quieter either. It makes the same constant noise no matter what the xb1 is doing.

It's got to the point where I no longer use instant on mode as I don't like the constant noise while trying to sleep.

Although reading the UK English version of that article it's supposed to make a whirring sound not a buzzing sound.

Also it mentions if the noise is louder than it should to check if it plugged into an overloaded extension or surge protector as that can increase the noise. Although i'm not sure whether that means fan noise or something else.

So I will be trying plugging it directly into a wall socket to see if that makes a difference.

Hi,

Nope, it doesn't work on my console or wireless. When plugged in with USB cable, the buzzing is constant and sounds like an electrical buzz. The vibration motors don't seem to go off when this buzz happens.
