Wrong again NXT. There is no such thing as a Foreign car! Those hybrid cars are designed, developed and made in in the USA, by American workers, for the American market. So what makes them foreign? The only cars that you can technically say is foreign are
cars that are developed and made overseas and shipped here, which are usually going to be brands like Ferrari, Lamborghini etc.. but even then those cars are designed for the American market first, because they have too, its the biggest market and has the
strictest crash tests. So whats foreign about it? As far as consoles go, again PS4 was made designed for the American gamer, with an American that designed the whole thing! So whats foreign about it? To top it off both the ps4 and X1 are manufactured overseas.
You are wrong and I'm right!

  2. Taboo, right or wrong, I think you're going for quite a stretch here and am more inclined to agree with Doc. I created this discussion on the grounds that because the consoles were made by companies that are started in and thereby influenced by their respective
cultures (east and west) that their consoles and games were also likely and largely influenced by those same cultures. Based on your argument, I'd guess that you'd say that's not necessarily true because each console has games for both cultures. If that's
the case, then you're telling us something everybody already knows - games sell all across the world regardless of where they originate, hence why we're not using sales as a conversation point. What I want to know is whether you think each console and their
games are influenced MORE by their own respective cultures in terms of DESIGN, not sales. I hope that clears things up for you. Consoles and Cultures ;)

GG since you asked about exclusives, I'd have to say all of the xbox ones retail exclusives (Forza 5, Kinect Sports Rivals & Fighter Within) are "international" games.

I'd say Infamous is a USA influenced title, but again the games seem international.

I don't get how you can say PS4 is Japanese, when everything about it is American. The company that funded its development is Japanese, but thats it. If thats the case, then Tesla motors is African car company because Elon Musk is African.

Taboo raises a really important point.

When it comes to video games Sony is as "American" in the USA as "Microsoft", "Sega" or "Nintendo" being such a massive brand.

Unfortunately this Generation has been an absolute disaster for them with Microsoft's console offering better exclusives and more Next Gen games but fortunately for Sony's sake most of their sales were made on the reputation of past accomplishments and the
expectation that they ought to be able to deliver again this next time round.

Whereas Japanese gamers might pride themselves culturally on buying a "Japanese" console, Sony's greatest trick in the West has been to market itself as an "American Product" in an "American Market" when it comes to games.

Early on in this latest gen the PS 4 was able to offer us the best of Last Gen in 1080p but it seems that developers are getting to grips with the complexity of the ONE's software much quicker than last gen and the PS 3 and now we see "Diablo III: The Infernal
Edition" releasing on the ONE in 1080p at 60fps.

Even though Sony have sold well on the strength of their brand name, with better exclusives, more next gen games and now also featuring the best of Last Gen in 1080p it looks like there's only ONE before this generation's even really started.

  7. I personally think you see the Japanese influence in games on both platforms. I can't help but think how Japanese Ori and the blind forest looks and that's on a console from a american company. Ori could so easily have been developed in Japan. Taboo is
actually right Sony is a global company that operates all over the world. The only thing about Sony evenly remotely Japanese is that where they was founded.

Japan still has a role and a important role to play in the games industry.

@Azrael Sony has had "an absolute disaster" this gen?.....ok. Are you joking?

More next gen games? Last time I checked 100 released games vs 59.

Better exclusives? Just 3 retail exclusives (Forza 5, Fightet Within, Kinect Sports Rivals).

And Diablo 3. Was a bug, will be fixed in a day one patch. And Diablo 3 on x1 will be increased from 900 to 1080p with a day one patch.

Might wanna check your facts in future ;-)

  9. Taboo, where did you get the idea that I was going to say 1 console was better over the other? I specifically put a DISCLAIMER in the opening post to prevent that sort of nonsense...

  10. Also, where are you guys getting the idea that it's only exclusive if its done by Microsoft Studios? I meant exclusive to the console, not the studio. Also, some game series that were once exclusive on previous consoles (Resident Evil and Final Fantasy for
example) are no longer exclusive to one or the other.

    Sony could have 1000 games.

They've had no choice but to throw a smokescreen's worth of last gen games onto the PS 4 to cover up the fact that "Killzone" is really the only next gen game worth playing.

Better exclusives. You can throw "Dead Rising 3", "Ryse: Son Of Rome" into the pile of better exclusives and as groggy Sony stuck it's head back up "Titanfall" and "Plants vs Zombies" smacked it in the face.

So I remain 100% correct when I point out that the XBox ONE has the better exclusives and more next gen games.

Because of this "Games" aren't really a debate Sonyboyz really try and get into when you're talking "Next Gen".

That's why Resolution was such a popular complaint thread for so many Silver members in the past. When it came to last gen games, it was the only area the more powerful PS 4 console was actually able to surpass the XBox ONE.

Unfortunately that pony's been well and truly whipped by "Diablo III: Ultimate Evil Edition" running at 1080p and 60fps on the ONE.

Just ONE more reason that there's only ONE.

Sony tends to get final fantasy series exclusive since its japanese. Final fantasy xiii versus was for ps3 only but its renamed xv and is for x1 and ps4. First announced 2006 square has yet to make a release date for ff xv.

It doesn't matter the studio, there are only 3 retail exclusives.

Anyway, that is off topic. I guess in conclusion neither console reflects its background. (USA funded, made in China, Japan funded made in China). I don't think gaming has ever been restrictive in that sense.

Az the 4 "exclusives" you mentioned? None of them are x1 exclusives.

  15. I can think of many games as examples with eastern or western influence (Red Dead Redemption for the west and Final Fantasy for the east as just 2 more examples; Dead Rising can even technically count as being influenced by both) - also being exclusive however,
    that's much harder...
