Console won't turn off, but restarts?

Lately I've had an interesting issue with my console. Whenever I hold the home button to bring up the turn off and restart options, I press the turn off prompt but instread of the console turning off, it restarts instead. any ideas why?

Actually, I don't think there is anything that needs to be "fixed", it's working fine. It is actually convenient, I don't have to worry about turning the console off and on and disturbing an active download.......Wow! Microsoft are like total futuristic
visionaries man! They always think of everything. Aaaaaah!

My console won't turn off.

Hello.

So, for the past day or so my Xbox refuses to turn off unless I pull the power chord out. As soon as I hit the power button, it shuts down for a couple seconds then powers right back up again. What's strange is when it does power up by itself, it automatically
connects to "Player 1" even though my wireless controller is not connected at all. So when I do try to turn my controller on, i'm stuck on "Player 2" and can't get the green light to turn off for the "Player 1" spot. I'm thinking maybe it could be an interference
issue of some sort? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Try doing a hard reset on your console to see if it resolves the issue. Hold the power button on the console for 10 seconds or until the power shuts down completely. Unplug the power cord from the back of the console for 5 minutes. Plug the power cord
back in and restart the console. Once it is back up and operational test for results. Let us know. Good Luck!

I see that you tried to restart it, but I do need to make sure you restarted it as described. Just turning it off and back on won't necessarily do it. The reason for the specific method is that this method commands Xbox One to clear out a data cache that
could be blocking your console from knowing that Ninja Gaiden 2 is now back-compatible. Turning it off and back on won't do that, I'm afraid.

yes same here it's crap as soon as i turn off and start back up the sign in will just keep loading i can see my profile load but can't select anything have to reboot then it won't connect to the internet have to restart my router then everything works fine.
Or my console won't turn off the light will flash then the Kinect will turn off while the Xbox light keeps flashing .

Hi, I have heard that a power recycle has helped some fix the drift, it won't hurt to try, might be lucky.

Turn off your console by holding the Xbox button  on the front of the console for approximately 10 seconds. The console will turn off.
Turn your console back on by pressing the Xbox button  on the console or the Xbox button  on your controller.

If you don't see the green boot-up animation when the console restarts, repeat these steps. Make sure that you hold the power button until the console completely shuts down.

Important If your console is in instant-on power mode, the above steps will shut the console off completely. Instant-on mode, or the ability to turn on your console by saying "Xbox on," won't be enabled until you restart the console.

Are you referring to your wireless home network that was restarting?

If the console is no longer powering on, then you need to power cycle the console. Unplug the power cable from the Xbox and from the wall outlet and leave it unplugged for about 5 minutes. Then plug it back in and power it on from the console. Try different
outlets if the console cannot power on.
