Console will not automatically install OS updates

Seems like for the past month or so my console will not automatically download and install the OS updates when they are released. I've never had this issue before as it has always worked in the past. But now I can see that an update will be released and
a few days will go by without the console downloading the update. The console is on the instant-on mode and the automatic update box is checked. Under the updates section it will even say that it has checked for an update. So it appears it's still checking
for updates daily but still won't download them when one is available. So far, games and apps appear to not be having this issue. It's just been a problem with the OS updates. I've tried hard restarts and nothing seems to work.

@BC32 If I'm not mistaking, updates aren't installed automatically, they're downloaded automatically but not installed, however I think if you have the power settings set to keep ur console in standby mode that the consoles system updates will download and
install automatically, but not updates for apps.

I'm pretty doubtful about the partnership with EA though, seems like a bad idea.

 

Are you in the preview program? My mate didn't have exact same issue as you but it was downloading an update, next day it was asking him to download it again

The way he solved it was by deleting his gamer tag and downloading it again

Again though it wasn't same problem as you but could be worth a try, good luck!

Have you tried hard resetting via the settings option ?

 

There was a time last month they were releasing a new preview every day.

As for you O.P., they roll updates out in waves as to not stress the system. By checking manually you can bypass it.

 

Have not done a hard reset.

Even after a few days have passed after the update becomes available it still won't update so I'm forced to update manually. But the point is to have it done automatically.
