Console was banned on Xbox one

hi,

Coming home from work today I found my Xbox one console had been banned. Now unless my younger brother abused bill gates over Xbox when I was out, I have absolutely zero clue why this has occurred. I can't talk to support about the issue either?

I read up on the Xbox support website that you're meant to incur bans before this one, yet all that happened is what seems like this final stage.

I'd really appreciate it if someone could respond as to why, in my specific case it was banned. (Not just some hypertheticals) because I know I've not done anything wrong, aside from maybe a bad name change....

It's not a permenant ban but those that have received a retail console early and connected it to the net have had it banned.

No, if you are sold the Xbox one via a store and you did nothing wrong, you will not be banned. They broke the terms, not you. Xbox is not banning people playing early.

Secondly, yes, as a new member I'd expect that, but ive already found a trade off one of my regular forums. Just a friend recomended this place so I thought I'd try it.

Thirdly, dev consoles are different and cant connect to XBL at all. However, doesnt mean devs dont have early access to retail consoles.

And finally, all review consoles are retail versions. Plenty of those exist. Hence how I got mine.Click to expand...

They are banning people but only until release when the console is unbanned.

Device bans are not issued lightly, and occur when a particular Xbox console or Xbox on Windows device is used to violate the Code of Conduct in an egregious or repeated manner. Once a device ban occurs, no account can connect to the Xbox Live service from
the affected device. Given the severity of this action we take each device ban extremely seriously, and only take action after a lengthy investigation.

Upon receiving a device ban, any account that attempts to sign in to the Xbox Live service will receive a notification. The specific content of the notification depends on the type of device that received the ban.

Xbox One:

“Your console is banned. This console has been banned for Terms of Use violations. To protect the Xbox service and its members, Microsoft does not provide details about specific console bans. For more information out console bans, visit xbox.com/xboxone/consoleban.”

Please note that banning an Xbox console or Xbox on Windows device does not disrupt the underlying functionality of the device, and it can continue to be used offline following the ban.

So essentially, and I will put this simply. My device is never going to be able to fulfil its intended use as what I purchased for.... so now I will have to buy a new Xbox one and hope I don't get banned again for doing whatever I was doing?

The fact that I cannot be given any information regarding why the console was banned, and that there is no platform for appeal is completely ridiculous. What if mistakes were made (like I believe in this case there were).

Is one of the consoles banned from Xbox Live? You can't move profiles or saved games from a banned console to a non-banned one; they'll show as corrupt.

You can also get a console privilege suspension if you keep getting banned/suspended which means any account on that console will have the same punishment as the suspended account,even new accounts.

100 day suspensions & console suspensions are pretty much the final warning & last chance to stop breaking the rules.

Console bans are still a thing. If he hasn't been permanently banned yet, he will most likely be soon.

Console bans don't carry over from console to console so if you get an xbox one for xmas it wont be banned.

Does your Xbox One indicate when the console ban ends? Where a console ban on Xbox 360 was permanent and irreversible, the same is not necessarily true with Xbox One. Temporary console bans can occur, and are used to protect Xbox Live from significant
abuse that may be coming from that console, usually in the form of repeated harassment from accounts that use that console.
