    Hey all. I was wondering if there's a way to stop the console updates from auto-updating itself while playing games. I was playing a match of Halo when my Xbox kicked me out of the game and asked me to update or I would have to stay offline.

    Xbox One Installing Game Updates

    Yup - as beasty says, it downloads the data if in stand by but won't install it until you power the console up and launch the game. It did that for the BF4 update for me as well as the console update earlier in the week

    Console Update

    To the best of my knowledge, the answer to this is no. From what I've seen, there is a period of time between when an update becomes available, and when it becomes mandatory, but I don't know if this is always the case, or how long that time is. If your
    console is in Instant On mode, most updates should download and apply automatically while you aren't using the console.

    Err... if applying the update by USB Flash Drive as per the Local Install instructions at
    http://xbox.com/update the USB Flash Drive should NOT be prepared as an Xbox Memory Unit!
