Console turning off (@dashboard & ingame)

Hi,

it's been a while since the last time I played a game on my Xbox360 (about 6 months or so). Today I wanted to but after the WL-Update for Bayonetta the console turned itself off and I couldn't turn it on again -> Nothing was happening when I pressed the eject
button/ power button / Xbox-button on the controller. All cables are in place and seem to work... After 5-10 minutes the xbox turned on by itself and seemed to be working properly - but after 30 secs in the game menu the console turned off again. 5-10 minutes
later the console started itself but turned off after 10 minutes in the dashboard.

The light on the psu glows orange (standy) and green (console running) but turns completly off when the xbox shuts itself down.

Could you tell me where the problem is located? Thank you!

Xbox flashing white light

If your Xbox One is turned off and the white Xbox logo on the front of the console pulses on and off, it means that the console is downloading a dashboard or service update.

Xbox 1 dollar offer

Dashboard offers usually refresh after turning the console on and off and can be shown randomly. There's no way to force an offer to show.

Hi Tobakus!

It sounds like you may need to replace the PSU. Initially I thought your console was overheating until you mentioned that the light turns off when the console is off. After some investigating I found this
LINK. The most important thing that it states I will copy/paste below:

Flashing orange, solid red, or no light: Your power supply may need to be replaced. Try the following solutions:

Try plugging your console’s power supply into a different electrical outlet. Do not use a surge protector.

If the power supply light is solid red or flashing orange, unplug the power supply and let it cool for 30 minutes. Then, plug the power supply back into the outlet.

Replace the power supply

If your power supply light is still flashing orange or solid red
or is unlit, your power supply needs to be replaced. You can order a replacement Xbox 360 power supply from the

Xbox Online Service Center. Console registration is required to replace the power supply under warranty (the power supply warranty is the same as your console warranty).

thanks for the fast reply! I already found that article but I thought the problem was maybe software-related (that update). Looks like I have to try a different PSU - I'll keep this thread updated for future users.

It's my pleasure. This does not sound like any of the symptoms usually related to the updates. The smoking gun is the fact that the PSU power light turns off when the console is off. I'm looking at my console right now and although off, the PSU has a

I've been playing the game for over 50 hours since launch and never encountered this error.

How do you guys exit the game when you're done playing? Do you return to the title screen and dashboard out or just turn off the console?

I've noticed the game saves quite frequently so it's not unlikely that if you just turn it off or dashboard ingame at the wrong time the save file corrupts.

Also why don't people make a backup save? I find it quite baffeling that some gamers are so naive and save everything on HDD without making a copy - expecially when the console supports USB sticks.
