    Console suddenly powers off when i boot into any game:

    I have had the original Xbox One for a while now (4 years) and i have never had an issue where the console would suddenly power off once a game has managed to load. For example, i can boot into games via the start screen but the second a character is loaded
    or the map has rendered, the console would just cut off. Another example of this is when GTA is loading (Loading story mode/ online) for about 2 minutes but the second the game loads me in and the textures/ map loads, the console cuts out.

    I have tried a number of things to try and fix this issue. These include of:

    • Resetting the console (fully)
    • Clearing the Blu/ray drive.
    • Resetting network settings
    • Trying multiple games on and trying them on different accounts.

    I am a member of the Xbox Insider Programme and doing a little bit of research online, someone was saying it was a recent update (This was published in 2018 - they have not updated the form since) which would be quite interesting since i updated my console
    about 7 days ago only to start noticing issues about 4 days ago. I've been reading over reports that it could be the console overheating. I can ensure to you that it is not the console overheating due to the fact that the Xbox is fairly cool in a well ventilated
    area. Also the fans are spinning fine as they should and also the power brick is working fine. The last thing i want to say is the issue with the console is, the console only cuts off when the game launches. I can be on YouTube or any other app for hours and
    there will not be a issue. Only when it comes to games booting up.

    power brick stays on when xbox one is off

    The Xbox One has 2 power modes. The first is "Instant-On" mode in which the console is in a low power state in order to update in the background and boot-up in less than 10 seconds when you turn it on(Power Brick light is white when off)). The second option
    is "Energy-Saver" and this results in the console turning completely off when you power it down. In this mode, the console does not update itself while off and it takes about a minute to boot-up the system when turned on (Power Brick light is orange when off).

    I will also add, go into the power settings for the console and put it in energy saving mode. This will ensure the console and the game are 'off' when you turn the console off. It will also cause longer boot time so its more of a stop gap then a real solution.

    Go into Settings and it's under Power & startup. If the console is in "instant on" mode, it will download game, app and dashboard updates automatically while the console is "off", and once the new update is rolled out, it will also automatically download
    any content you buy/queue up via Xbox.com or SmartGlass on your phone or tablet. That mode also allows you to turn the console on with your voice and quick resume games, plus the boot up time is MUCH faster than a cold boot. The only disadvantages are that
    it uses more power when the console is off (about 15 Watts) and the power supply is on all the time.

    Are you shutting off power to the power brick on the console (energy saver power strip, unplugging it from the wall, etc)? Do you sign into Live when booting up the console?

    Some Issues.

    When in doubt, give it a hard boot :)

    Hard boot: With the console on, and sitting at the dashboard, hold down the power button for 10 seconds until the console turns off. Then leave it off for about a minute or two before switching it back on again. The hard boot will shut you xbox down completely,
    closing any background applications that could be running. This usually fixes these kind of issues, so well worth a shot :)
