Console Shuts Itself Off

Hi there.

Got me my first Xbox One after *** near having decided against it for the fiasco that was the 360. I haven't had much faith in Microsoft as of late to do much of anything right let alone another console.

Well, here it is. My first also happens to be a brick from the looks of things. Brings back good ole' memories.

1) The power brick stays a solid white while on. Orange while off. It doesn't flicker. Power isn't an issue.

2) I get no messages about ventilation nor does the brick and the Xbox feel hot once it shuts down.

3) No error messages.

At first this was far and few in between to where I thought it was going to sleep. I turn that off. It keeps doing it and keeps getting progressively worse. Shutting off as soon as it turns on, etc.

So what now? Do I get to send in the brick just to wait weeks to get another brick? Because I am really sick of this ***. I've owned a couple of PS3's, a couple of PS2's. Playstation. Sega. My PS4. All did well or are going strong well after the date of
purchase. Even the original Xbox I owned worked out great.

So why then did I go through six-seven Xbox 360's last generation and it appears this generation won't be any better?

My rant aside, if anyone has some advice, I'll take it. Otherwise I'm probably just going to return this system to Best Buy as I am not in the mood to play games (pun intended?) with Microsoft all over again.

Xbox shut itself off??

The power button on the 360 could be stuck. You could try to take the faceplate off and snap it back in place. Or you can try to power it on and off threw your 360 controller. Sorry I can't give any more help but I hope that works !!

 

System shuts itself off

If your system is shutting off randomly, then unplug EVERYTHING (USB devices, electric cords, DMI cords, etc) and then hold the power button down for 5 seconds and then plug everything back in, and if that doesn't resolve your issue, then call customer service
and inform them of the issue.

 

Where is the console sitting?

What how many inches away are other devices?

Is it cutting off due to inactivity as this is what its suppose to do?

If you had the experiences listed above with the x360's either you're hardware is not venting due to being too close or inside a closure. Keep the front and back completely open if on or in a entertainment center. on the sides (where the vents are for
the Xbox One, you need to leave about 5 inches on the right and 2 inches on the left)

 

Also, how are these items plugged in?

HDMI to what form the xbox one?

HDMI in to Xbox One from what?

(I ask this because HDMI cables can receive and produce signals to turn off other devices) I really think the issue is venting or you have too many things plugged into your surge protector or its not grounded.

 

if its just a random shut off, I had to get a new console, new power brick did nothing.

 

I had the same problem with my first Xbone.

If you try repeatedly (anywhere from 5-20 attempts to turn on), does it eventually work?

Support originally told me it was the power brick and to ship it them (paying the international postage myself too, thanks M$), but tried it with a friends and the problem persisted. If you have this option try it first as you'll definitely be able to rule
it out.

The problem was something to do with the boot up of the Xbox one itself and there wasn't a fix available so had get a new console, so looks like a replacement or just complete refund is more of an option for you.

 

I bought my XB1 in November of 13. About three months after I started having problems with this as well. I would unplug the power block and reboot and everything would function properly. BUT, just today 19 months after purchase, the platform won't turn on.
On, off, on, off. I tried everything. Called MS support, there answer was send it in or buy a new one. No, I won't buy a new one, and I won't send it in. I'm ready to toss this thing in the garbage and get a play station. I didn't have many issues with the
360. I had to buy a second one four years after the first one. It still runs strong for the guy I sold it too. This XB1 though, is junk. If MS is basing their reputation o. This platform, it might not turn out so well for them.
