    Hello,

    i use an XBOX ONE X with the external HDD Western Digital My Book 12 TB USB 3.0.

    The Problem i got, is that when i go to XBOX Settings → System → Storage → select the external HDD → Manage Transmission → and mark "select all"

    → then the XBOX Logo begins to flash several times and it will shut down without loading the whole list of games that are installed on the HDD.

    So why can this happen and what can i do against it?

    Also for some games it takes like forever to load the games.

    Yesterday i updatet my XBOX to the newest firmware and after the update was done i hold the power button a several seconds to get the cache cleared and waited some time and booted the system up again.

    Everything seems to work fine for me at the moment.

    Starting games works normal as well, only if i install games and want to play while installing games on the external HDD could cause some issues like exorbitant loading times or having the issue that starting the game took to long, i guess that's because
    of the massive data transfer.

    i also have a similar external HDD from WD also same issue but after the capacity gets more and more full.

    The one i mentioned the issue is a brand new one, also tested it before with not as many data installed on it with my xbox without having any issues.

    There are around 900 games installed on the external HDD, the internal HDD is always clean, only some apps are installed there.

    Now on the 12TB external HDD are around 500GB space left, maybe this is to less to work properly? Idk.

    Well i try to reset my XBOX ONE X later today, to see if it will boot the games more quickly afterwards, at least i hope so, because one time it worked for me already.

    Maybe you have a faulty HDD, I suggest you to connect it to PC and try some diagnostic tool on it, if I remember correctly, the official Western Digital support site have a series of software to test their product.

    I say that because I used a 4TB MyBook for over 2 years without any issue, now switched to a 10TB and again no issue (6 month at the moment).

    Of course the HDD has it's own power supply.

    Still hope i don't have to delete everything, because i still haven't downloaded every game i own.

    The whole procedere took me already about 2 weeks with the XBOX ONE X everyday running to download and install games on the external HDD.

    Still a few days of downloading games left i guess :/

    I take it you've got this drive plugged into mains as well? Drives larger than 4GB can't be powered by the console directly.

    Also be aware a full diagnostic on a PC will require wiping the drive of its contents.
