Console setup stuck on "enter birthday"

Has anyone else had the issue of not being able to enter the birthday on the initial setup? I can enter the day, but it will not move on to the next field. Hitting enter displays a message. Something like "this is required".

any help would be much appreciated. Not a good start i must say.

Using "xbox on" setup stuck

Same problem here...I selected my TV brand...Sony, and it has been stuck for 30 min (black screen with white spinning circle in middle). I tried to power off as suggested earlier and same thing has happened three times. Just can't get past this step. Tried
to disconnect Kinect as you mentioned. When I did that, I was not even able to get to the set up screen at all. Very frustrated and HATE the fact that unit did not come with a detailed Manual. It takes much longer to have to waste time trying to look this
info up online.

That's certainly odd that it would get to the same spot and stop again.

• Let's try turning it off completely again by pressing and holding the power button on your console.
  
• Next, disconnect the Kinect sensor from your console.
• Power the console on and see if it boots normally/allows you to go through the setup process.
