I've been through those steps even though none of them really apply here. I have also noticed that my drive refuses to stay open, it only stays open for about 8-10 seconds and then closes itself. I have also noticed a bit closer that after i open it, after
about 5 seconds, it looks like the teeth try to open the drive even more even though the tray is already out as far as it can go.

When i have to shut the console off to get it to stop, i have to wait until the console stops the slow light flashing and for it to turn off completely before turning it back on, if i just turn it off and right back on, the problem still persists.

Another observation, the tray wont stay open, when i eject it, it opens for about 8 seconds, the light never stops blinking, and then it closes automatically. It seems its not detecting that its fully open so the fail safe triggers and closes itself. Any
suggestions?

None of this works. I also found something else out on how to manipulate the issue. I decided to use the controller to eject the disk tray, and i let it sit there for 10 seconds, it closed the tray automatically, It spun the disk up, read it, then stopped
reading it and the green light started to blink again and the dashboard said "opening", and it doesn't open. I even manually hit the eject button to open it and hit it again to manually close it, and again it just reads the disk until it identifies it and
then goes into blinking mode and says "opening" even though its really not opening. I had to manually shut off my console and turn it back on to get it to stop. I'm also a bit disappointed as i registered my console to find out that its out of standard warranty,
i got this for Christmas last year, have been using it for maybe a year now and it says my warranty was up a week before Christmas. I know it should be out of warranty now since its past that date now, but as of the 17th, i technically didn't even get a year
of use out of it when i started to have this issue. It's also a bit steep to pay $80 to get this repaired when consoles are now at a reduced price and if i spend the extra $40 i could get a completely new console. Either way i don't have the money for either
of those options so any suggestions about this issue would be great!
