Console powering down while in "always on mode"

I'm having the same problems mentioned in this thread. They appeared to start for me after the November update.

Just a quick question, those of you who are experiencing this issue have an external HDD attached?

I ask because I have just got off the phone from Xbox support and they advised that the external drive may be causing this fault and that I should disconnect it. I will give it a go and monitor over the next few days to see if it makes a difference, but
this is not an ideal solution for me as my internal drive is full and means I will constantly be moving data around so I do not t loose any thing.

just did it w/wo the external HDD - this is not the solution - the MS rep gave you a bad advice - the fix is a software and not hardware - all started after the Nov "bad" update.

I have a problem, I think it has to do with the power box overheating and it turns off my Xbox(only in the middle of the game, if its on the home screen it will stay on).

I just got the Xbox on 11/14/14. I updated the console and started to downloading games, and at first I thought it was because I started playing a game while it was installing but now that all the games have installed, it now does it on every game almost
every hour of playing, it just shuts down and won't turn back on until I unplug the outlet and plug it back in.

if I don't reply, please add my gamer tag(Captain Dubzzz) and let me know if you know what's going on and found a solution. Thanks.

That's not good, Captain. You should definitely look into getting that replaced.

Same problem after the Nov update , its seems to me its shut down after checking for new updates , because when i check at what time that happend is always the same maybe conincidence ...and the fact that u cant turn it on neither with voice or controller
just seems a bug in the update ...too bad MS will resume updates after holydays ...

as it looks no one at MS have a clue or an idea how to solve the prob.

as it looks by my end after putting my trust at MS and being a loyale fan an costumer i find it as a disrespect of the clintes and i dont and cant understand why no one is responding from MS end.

hope that someone will come up with a solution A.S.A.P.

I've been having this issue to and I've timed to between 6 to 7 hours where it turns itself completely off (orange light on power supply). It's not an update either as I test it last night by unplugging it from my router and I deleted the wifi connection
weeks ago.

Well, in reference to the comments of a past update that installs and then shuts down to "energy saver" mode, this wouldn't make much sense. This is a next-gen console which means this thing is always updating and installing small packets of data. Therefore,
instant-on mode would by default "never" again work properly, thus negating the whole purpose of the feature.

I too have noticed that "EVERY" day/night my console shuts down "COMPLETELY" (energy saver) on it's own. I can always tell due to the fact that i have a network switch installed in my entertainment center that has a led to show when the Xbox One is connected
to the internet. If the internet light is off for the port light indicator this means the Xbox has turned itself off. This is what I have used to check the status of my Xbox for almost a full year now.

Is this due to the aforementioned update issue? We may never know if this is the problem or a continuance of the tons of bugs that have plagued this system from DAY ONE. Bummer.

I am having the same problem I am glad I am not the only one. I have it set for instant on and its weird sometimes. Sometimes when I wake up in the mornings it is completely off after it goes into low power mode. It all started with the latest system update.
I am in the preview program and it has happened since the I first started getting the November update. The update is now out for the public so if this is a major issue I think it will be addressed. Answering a question from earlier in one the updates they
made it so after the system updates and needs a restart it it will restart and go into low power mode automatically.
