Console powering down while in "always on mode"

Its happened twice. While downloading games in always on mode but turned off. It powers down with the light on the power brick turning white to orange. Is it restarting or something else?

    :)

    Console powering down despite "instant-on"

    Seems not-so-random lately.

    Console is in "instant-on" mode.

When I "power off" the console, it goes to sleep mode (white led on power birck).

The next day, the console is powered off completely (orange/brown led on power brick).

Other than that (and the usual preview program glitches), console seems fine, I can play lots of games without issue. So doesn't seem to be a power brick failure.

For the record console is on UPS, so it's not due to my *** power lines.

And no it does not seem related to system updates background downloads.

    Any help?

Try powering down the console then unplugging it from the wall for a few seconds. Worked for me.

[/quote] This seems to fix nearly every issue on the one.

Recently an update was released to everyone. When this happens the console will install it and then shut down requiring you to use the power button to turn on again. Perhaps this is what you've experienced.

  5. I am having the same problem I am glad I am not the only one. I have it set for instant on and its weird sometimes. Sometimes when I wake up in the mornings it is completely off after it goes into low power mode. It all started with the latest system update.
I am in the preview program and it has happened since the I first started getting the November update. The update is now out for the public so if this is a major issue I think it will be addressed. Answering a question from earlier in one the updates they
made it so after the system updates and needs a restart it it will restart and go into low power mode automatically.

Well, in reference to the comments of a past update that installs and then shuts down to "energy saver" mode, this wouldn't make much sense. This is a next-gen console which means this thing is always updating and installing small packets of data. Therefore,
instant-on mode would by default "never" again work properly, thus negating the whole purpose of the feature.

I too have noticed that "EVERY" day/night my console shuts down "COMPLETELY" (energy saver) on it's own. I can always tell due to the fact that i have a network switch installed in my entertainment center that has a led to show when the Xbox One is connected
to the internet. If the internet light is off for the port light indicator this means the Xbox has turned itself off. This is what I have used to check the status of my Xbox for almost a full year now.

Is this due to the aforementioned update issue? We may never know if this is the problem or a continuance of the tons of bugs that have plagued this system from DAY ONE. Bummer.

Same problem here.... Always on mode doesn't work anymore. When turning off in the evening it stays in always on mode, the next day it is completely off. Started with the last system update.

Alright, after some research it seems that I was incorrect. The support page does need an update.

For those that are experiencing the shut down. Are your consoles plugged into a power bar? If so then try plugging it directly into a wall socket. The plugs that come with the console have their own surge protectors. If you have the console plugged into
a power bar then perhaps it's the extra surge protection that is preventing them from staying in instant on mode. If it were to lose power for a small amount of time then it would obviously shut off.

It is plugged into wall socket. I can't turn the xbox on with the controller, have to turn the xbox on at the console.

Strange, cause it worked since day one.....

  12. hi,

Same problem here as well.... Always on mode / instant on doesn't work anymore. When turning off it stays in always on mode/ instant on , the next few min / houres or a day later it is completely off. Started with the last official system update : OS version:
    6.2.11785.0 (xb_rel_1411.141104-1838) fre

I am also in the preview program and never had a prob before.

i have opened an SR with the great help of MS XB1 support Rep. Mr. Edgar who was very informative and helpful.

i do hope that its a software glich and not an hardware prob.

i will appricate your comments prior using and activating the SR and send it for repair.

    thank you.

Console powering down while in "always on mode"

I have the same problem every since the November update. I guess I'll have to call Xbox support and start a case file.

I've been having this issue to and I've timed to between 6 to 7 hours where it turns itself completely off (orange light on power supply). It's not an update either as I test it last night by unplugging it from my router and I deleted the wifi connection
    weeks ago.

  15. I am also experiencing this fault which for me started after the September update.

I have always set my Xbox One to use the ‘instant on’ power mode, however as of late when I am not using my Xbox One it has been powering itself down completely and I am unable to turn it back on again with either voice commands, via Kinect, or by using
my controller. I have to press the power button on the Xbox One itself to get it working again.

By turning my Xbox One on every 9 or 10 hours I can reduce this issue from happening but it does not eliminate the problem completely.

It has never lost power while in use and I have not experienced any other problems.

I have tried performing a soft reset and disconnecting all cables for 5 minutes, but to no avail.

The only other device which I connected around the same time this issue started was an external HDD, as I filled up my internal one. I have also changed my broadband router but cannot see how either would cause my Xbox to turn off completely.
