Console (power supply?) dead less than one hour after update.

I'm pretty sure my Power Supply for my Day One Edition console died, interestingly less than about an hour after the latest system update. I let the update download and install, did 14 sessions of Studio and uploaded them to MS, then switched over to Destiny.
Was running patrols and the thing just died. Now, it could have just been that the power supply was on it's last legs (though, that really sucks now that it's only a month or two out of warranty) but I'd never had a problem with it getting hot previously.
I wondered if something in the update might have caused it to draw too much current trying to squeeze more performance out of the console? It was fine when I wasn't gaming, but half an hour to an hour of "taxing" it with Destiny and the light doesn't come
on on the power supply any more.

    :)

7 years and still going strong

My first console lasted less than an hour, I've had at least 3 more get RRoD/E74 after that one.

Xbox one x scorpio edition dead after 20 mins of play

One dead Scorpio Editon here too. Had the console powered up for about 8 hours, first 6 downloading a game, and then after a hour or two of playing the console just turns off and now will not power back on. Tried letting it cool down proper, tried a different
power cable and outlet .. nope, just stays dead.

Hi there! While I don't know if the update had anything to do with this, I can give you a few tips for troubleshooting your power supply.

First, make sure you are plugging it into a wall outlet, not a surge protector.

Next, unplug the power cable from the console and unplug the power cord from the power supply. Wait 10 seconds and try again.

If at all possible, move it to a different outlet and see if the results are the same. You don't need to move your console, just the power brick and cord. Also, if possible, borrow a friend's power supply to test on your console.

If none of that works, you'll have to get a new one. You can start the process here:

Let me know what you had to do if you can.

    Good luck!

    "Jim, he's dead!"

It's passing current from the 110v AC in, it gets warm (not hot), but no light, and no power up from the console. I haven't dug out my ancient digital multimeter yet to see what if any voltage is being output, but it's safe to say it won't be powering any
    Xbox ONE again.

    Update Problem, no Error Code

I did a update on my system on a Wednesday but was unable to play due to how long the update took. So I tried playing games Saturday morning only to have my console stop working on me 20 minutes after gameplay. Now I have a orange light on my power supply
block and my console keeps powering off less than 5 seconds after hitting the power button. I've tried resetting my system and unplugging everything for hours at a time. But still I'm left with an orange light and a console that no longer works.

    Console keeps shutting off

    xFR3AK,

I’ve plugged my power supply into the wall like you said and gamed. Sadly, after two or hours, the xbox shut itself off again. Both feel warm (console mostly the fan), but the power supply is significantly warmer.

    Thank you for helping out!

    Lord,

I’ve tried them, yes, which more or less increased my worry that it might be my console, as the red light (on the power supply) disappears after cooling down.

    Cheers!

    Xboxone shutting itself down

It just helps to narrow down the problem No use sending off the console if it is the power supply. You may just have to purchase a new power supply (if the old one is not under warranty) and that would be much better and take less time than sending in
your console. Good Luck to you!
