    Console: Possible Hardware Failure?


    I have a black Xbox 360 Slim. Our house was hit by lighting and the Xbox had shown a red ring around the power button. I turned the machine off and back on again. It powers on and the disc drive opens and closes just fine. When it powers on the usual
    start up screen moves for about a second or two before it freezes and never accomplishes anything after that. I don't understand what might damaged and I am wondering if it is worth pursuing a fix, paying a repair shop. Feel free to ask questions.

    Video doesn't work, controllers don't work, battery pack doesn't work.

    Sounds like a possible hardware problem. If your using an old console you may want to consider the 360 s.

    Is it able to use wired Xbox One gamepad with xbox 360?

    Heya!

    Unfortunately, the older console does not support any of the newer hardware or software and this would not be possible.

    How's your power supply? That should have protected you from a surge. Try a different outlet, try without the HDD.

    Thanks for responding. The power supply seems to be functioning perfectly. Nothing happens without the HDD.
