    Console or PSU

    Hi Forum,

It seems that this has popped up more than once on the forums, but it is difficult to attain whether it is the condole or the PSU.

Unplugged from the console the PSU shows an orange light, this is constant and stays on until it is plugged into the console, at this point the orange light fades out.

If I follow Troubleshooting then the light comes on then fades out instantly.

So is it the console or the PSU, I have already had a replacement console in the last 8 weeks.

    Thanks

    :)

Can I use an Xbox 360 slim power brick on an Xbox One

Not unless you want a broken brand new xbox one, The xbox 360 power brick is totally different from the xbox one power brick and Im pretty sure they both have different voltage and different amperage out put? ah Hell here's some info from xbox.com I looked up for you below about the whole thing....
    Console or PSU [IMG]

About your Xbox 360 console’s power supply unit and cord
Your Xbox 360 console has an external fan-assisted power supply unit (PSU). The PSU has the same basic design in all countries. The maximum dimensions of the PSU are as follows:

    • The 220-240V power supply measures 8.62 x 3.03 x 2.13 inches (approximately 21.9 x 7.7 x 5.4 cm).
    • The 110-127V power supply measures 8.42 x 3.03 x 2.13 inches (approximately 21.4 x 7.7 x 5.4 cm).
Some PSUs are shorter but have the same capabilities. For example, the PSU is slightly smaller in countries that use 110-volt electricity.

    • Xbox 360 E Console: The Xbox 360 E console uses a 120-watt PSU.
    • Xbox 360 S console: The Xbox 360 S console uses a 135-watt PSU.
    • Xbox 360 original console: There are several versions of the PSU for the original Xbox 360 console. Depending on the power requirements of the console, a 203-watt PSU, a 175-watt PSU, or a 150-watt PSU may have been included.
XBOX ONE Power supply unit and cord
Your Xbox One console has an external fan-assisted power supply unit (PSU). It measures 6.69 x 1.88 x 2.96 inches (approximately 17 x 4.8 x 7.5 cm). Note that the PSU has the same basic design in all countries. There are no dimensional changes between the 100-110V, 220-240V, and 100-240V versions.

Important Microsoft does not license any non-Microsoft accessories that plug into the Xbox One console's power socket. The use of any accessory other than the standard Xbox One PSU may damage your console and void your console warranty.

    Notes

    • PSUs are designed to be used only in the regions where they are sold.
    • Don't try to use an Xbox One PSU that was built for a region that has different power requirements.
    • Don't use an unlicensed accessory, such as a non-Microsoft replacement PSU, or any accessory that plugs in between the console and the PSU.
    • Don't use the Xbox One external PSU outside the country where it was sold. If you use the PSU in a different country, it or your console may be damaged, and the warranty may be invalidated.
    • The Xbox One PSU contains an internal fuse that helps protect your console from voltages that are too high and power surges. However, the PSU is a sealed unit. Therefore, you can’t replace the internal fuse.
    Power cords

    Console or PSU [IMG]

    DC power cord

The PSU has a hard-wired, direct-current (DC) power cord that connects the PSU to the console.

    • The DC power cord is approximately 3 feet, 6 inches (1.1 meters) long.
    • A proprietary power connector is permanently attached to the end of the DC power cord. This connector is designed specifically for the Xbox One console power socket.
    AC power cord

The AC power cord connects the PSU to the wall socket. The AC power cord is detachable from the PSU.

    • The AC power cord is approximately 5 feet, 9 inches (1.2 meters) long.
    • The end of the power cord that plugs into the PSU has two holes. If you use a power cord other than the one designed for your PSU, you may damage it or your console.
    • The plug at the end of the power cord that connects to your electrical outlet can be one of several types. The plug type depends on the country and region where you purchased your console.
Power supply placement, temperature, and noise
To provide sufficient cooling, the Xbox One external power supply uses a built-in fan to blow air through the PSU.

    Notes

    • The PSU fan automatically starts when you press the power button to start your console.
    • Typically, the fan makes a "whirring" noise.
    • When your console is in energy-saving mode, or when it’s disconnected from the PSU, the fan doesn’t operate.
    • If your console is in Instant-On power mode, the PSU is still on and the fan will spin.
    • The speed of the fan increases or decreases when the temperature of the PSU changes. If the fan speed changes, the whirring noise that the fan produces increases or decreases.
To help the power supply operate efficiently and safely, follow these precautions:

    • Don't block any ventilation openings on the PSU.
    • Don't put the PSU on a bed, a sofa, or any other soft surface that might block the ventilation openings.
    • Don't put the PSU in a confined space, such as a bookcase, a rack, or a stereo cabinet, unless that space is well-ventilated.
    • Don't put the PSU near any heat source, such as a radiator, a heat register, a stove, or an amplifier.
    • Don't stack other electronic devices on top of the PSU.
    • Make sure that the PSU is positioned horizontally and lays flat on the four rubber pads on its base.

European power supply on a US xbox 360? WIll it work?

CloakedToe7019, makes a good point there. However, the newer consoles and power supplies are keyed, or at least they should be if they are official ones. This makes it impossible to attach a lower wattage PSU to the earlier consoles that required a higher
wattage PSU. If the Console is not compatible the PSU simply will not fit.

Please note the above is regarding the wattage of the PSU, the voltage is a different issue. Suffice as to say, if you get a compatible European PSU for your console it should work fine.

    REPAIRED BY MICROSOFT BUT...

The older PSU's should fit the newer models. The PSU connectors on the HDMI models of the original Xbox 360 are keyed, which means that incompatible PSU's won't fit these machines. Your older pre-HDMI console PSU should fit your HDMI console though. Does
your PSU not fit your replacement console?

If you're having problems, you'll need to call support. The number for the UK is: 0800 587 1102

XBOX 360 150W Jasper POWER SUPPLY BRICK AC ADAPTER

If your console is definately a Jasper then all the Original Xbox 360 PSU's will work on your console, the 203W, 175W and 150W. So back to your original question, yes the 150W PSU will work with your console as long as yours is a Jasper. Do not use a drill
or anything to make the wrong PSU fit as they won't be able to properly supply the required power. I'm not sure if you were or not but by PSU I am reffering to the power brick, if you have looked up for a 150W PSU you may of found a PC PSU.
