Console not turning on fully

Hi, after using the xbox without any problems for 8 months, we are now having problems turning it on. When pressing the x logo, this is lighting up, but the console isn't turning on. There is just a blank screen. Please advise, is it broken? Many thanks

Console not turning off fully.

My console has recently not been turning off fully and I am looking for a fix. When I turn it off you can still hear the fan going and sometimes the middle LED on the turn on button will flash. It usually last 30 seconds to 1 minute. The console is one of
the newer ones and I have had it for around 2 years. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

This happens when your xbox is syncing your cloud saves after a game session or you are not done downloading stuff from the marketplace (and turned on background downloads in the settings) before you turn it off. Your console is fine don't worry about it.

Do you have a Xbox One S or X, or do you have an original Xbox One with external power supply? If you have the original Xbox One, what color is the LED on the external power supply?

 

Hi Unfortunately, none of the things I tried in the guide seemed to work. The only thing I couldn't try was connecting to a different TV, because we don't have one. When I tried to boot in low resolution ,mode, I didn't hear the second beep it mentioned?

Do you think I need to request a repair?

Its called the black screen of death u need to factory reset ur xbox to fix this error i seen peoples xbox one s have the error but if they hold there xbox controller x in the middle it would show turn off xbox or controller it might be not this the rarety
of this happening is unknowed

 

I'm sorry I don't quite understand your response. Please can you explain more clearly what you are suggesting I do with the xbox controller?

Sorry for the issue with the console. We recommend doing a
Soft factory reset when you do so select keep my games and apps. Also make sure you know the log in information for the account due to it removes profiles off the Xbox, and you will need to redownload the profile(s).

Thanks I will give this a go. My son is concerned that re-setting will wipe the settings on his games (e.g. ultimate teams in FIFA), is that the case?

 

As there is a blank screen we could only do the USB option, so we cannot keep the games and apps. What about the games that were downloaded with a code that came with the xbox, will we be able to re-use the code to download them again?

 

If you use a USB stick it should hopefully give you the option to keep games and apps. If you do have to fully wipe the console any purchased content will be available for you to download again in the ready to install list in my games and apps when you
sign in with the account that made the purchase.

I'd be happy to provide some input.

Games, whether they are purchased digitally through the store or redeemed with a code, will remain tied to your account, no matter what Xbox that account is on. Game licenses are not console specific, they are account specific. So if a factory reset is needed
using a USB flash drive, and the games and apps are erased, everything can be re-downloaded once you re-add the account that owns the games to your Xbox. Just make sure you know 100% the email and password to the account that owns the games. There is a "Ready
to Install" section in My Games and Apps at the top that shows what games you own that are ready to download.

Saved progress and in-game settings are also saved to the Xbox Live Cloud while connected to Xbox Live, so everything will re-sync once the games are re-downloaded.

If the factory reset using a USB flash drive does not solve the issue, then the Xbox would need a

repair.
