    Console locking up on hard drive playback only


    When watching stored movies the console locks up - controller not working - video freezes. Only solution is to power down and restart movie & TV app & resume. Can happen once or several times during playback.

    Interesting thing is that it does not happen when signed in to Xbox Live. Thoughts ??

    I'm having the same issue. Intermittent freezing (locking up). I have the game installed on my X-box hard drive.

    Hi there,

    like the others have mentioned there is not way to 'lock' a harddrive from items being erased etc or setings of the console.

    -

    But the part where you mention people signing on to your profile on a harddrive that is protected by your own Microsoft Account password, but that only works if you haven't setup the console to 'remember' password.

    US Hard Drive in a UK System?

    Only certain games have region locks, accessories including Xbox 360 hard drives do not. So yes, you can use a U.S hard drive in a UK Xbox 360 console.

    You can use external storage on Xbox one, but it must be an external USB 3.0 hard drive. Flash drives are not supported as a storage device - they only work for video playback. The minimum size of HDD is 256GB, there is no upper limit. You can install
    all future games to these hard drives.

    The Xbox keeps throwing the error that the drive is NOT formatted!
    That's a completely normal error message. All external hard drives need to be reformatted to use them for game storage. Or are you attempting to use the drive for media playback? In which case a NTFS drive should be detected for this purpose.

    Also, it's not a good idea to 'low level format' a hard drive. Not only will it take ages - with each sector of the hard drive having to be written - it's entirely unnecessary for modern hard drives.

    The content is locked to the purchasing console and account, so your old hard drive is of no use unless its linked up with one of those things.
